    since June 6, 1977...so 45 years, 3 weeks, 6 days....16,455 days....394,200 hours

so for chrissakes, after more than 394,000 hours you can wait a few thousand more. Give it till 400,000 hours

In the last 30 years, 10 of 30 teams have won the Championship.

    July 31, 2013 - Khris Middleton was traded making $500k a year.

There are tons of examples. None of them with be exactly like Portlands situation today.

I'll keep coming back to my point. Teams can and have made significant impact moves outside of the July 1st-2nd window which is why I believe coming to grand conclusions 30 hours into free agency is always going to be premature. This doesn't mean I'm predicting Portland will make significant moves.

If you think NBA teams can only make significant roster changes in a 30 hour window each year, then I guess we disagree.

or renege on the Payton deal

I think people are underestimating how big a monkey-wrench it is that Portland is hard-capped after the Payton deal. At least it's a giant monkey-wrench in our trade fantasies around here. It may not be as big a monkey-wrench in what's realistic

Yeah, I think it's only a monkey wrench for fantasy trades, not reality.

We don’t need 500k second year Khris Middleton. We need 20ppg Khris Middleton. That would be an impact move and that’s the kind of move we can’t make right now.

Good thing this thread will live on for years to come.
Hopefully in the next 3 years you’ll be able to say, “Look Predator was wrong!” and I will gladly have to eat my shorts.

    We will see.

Can’t happen…. The forum is neutered and we can never have a fucking thread like the Harrison fucking Barnes thread.

It doesn't have to be a total renege...

Joe could still pay the Tax-MLE of ~$6.5M instead of the ~$9M negotiated

    And one more thing.

Dame & GPII have the same agent (Aaron Goodwin). In theory, Dame could offer to pay the agent fees (assuming 12% is ~$1M) -> meaning GPII would only be out ~$1.5M in the 'renege' option.

Since the agreement with the agent is outside of the Blazers operations & influence - it should be fine
