Jody Allen has just released a statement stating that the Blazers are not for sale… and more importantly… she reiterated her dedication to winning. Color me absolutely convinced by the press release! I’ll pay absolutely no attention to the actual moves, but who can argue with a press release? Whew! I’m so relieved.
That go's with the info i talked about in earlier posts after talking with a former employee of the Allen's She said she was all in.
Maybe she will. Patience ! It's gonna be a couple of offseasons to put this together. You can't totally undo The Hairdo's work overnight.
That's not what the press release says though! This team is CLEARLY dedicated to winning - and winning big - right now!
That statement does not exactly fill me with confidence about the future of the Blazers. More of Jody and Bert is not confidence inspiring.
I see a team that IS trying to get better, through moves, and the Draft. That is what we ask for. You say, they wouldn't overpay for OG and get mad. But as i've said, he is a inconsistent performer, and i doubt he would be different in PDX. Many of the moves we've wanted in the past, would have been terrible for the Blazers. Let the new guys do their jobs, and it might just be successful. Or continue to bitch and moan.
Now she trying to hold onto the team for 20+ years. We can't get rid of her. What a crock of shit letting her be the trustee.
Paul was a smart man. I don't think he would have sabotaged his favorite team. And maybe, just maybe, she's a bigger fan than you give here credit for. She's allowing her GM to do his job. Go back to being worried about your Lakers.
i'm not sure you're getting why people are upset. this is more to do with the fact that she has a terrific offer from a local guy who has shown the penchant to spend whatever it takes to win. waiting 10/20 yrs means that offer is off the table. Sure there might be others when the team is eventually for sale, but the offers will not come from Phil. Also, i think the spirit of the will was for the trustee to sell. the fact that it doesn't mention a timeline doesn't mean she gets to prolong the process unnecessarily. TBH, I don't really care if she owns the team as long as she pays tax and gets out of the way.
Paul Allen showed an intense commitment to winning a championship. Everything was dedicated to winning. This ownership group has shown no such commitment. The moves at the deadline were not at all in line with what Paul would have done. This summer has been a nice step in the right direction but we are a long way from contending. It feels more like they’re doing just enough to keep Dame happy.
