Small tear that according to news today will not require surgery but will mend with rest and rehab...had it required surgery it would be a much longer recovery process . I don't know about you guys but I wasn't impressed with the rookie for the first small sample size he played...he had a goaltend and more turnovers than buckets and a couple horrible passes. It'd be a small miracle in my view if he cracked the rotation this season at all except for garbage time.
i suppose we should be glad it's his left shoulder, so we won't see any markelle fultz nonsense. #silverlining
I don't think you can glean much from the first 5 minutes of the first SL game from a rookie who didn't play his college season the year before. I do think that turnaround right before he got hurt looked really spectacular and not in the least bit fluky, I thought he was handling the speed of the game well, I just think he looked nervous, in his head and a little rusty. In other words I still have the same stance as before. We know this guy is an athletic freak, we know he has a lot of ways he can score the ball, we know that he has a very good handle for a wing and that's about it. We don't know how good of a passer he is, we don't know if he understands the game and how to make his teammates better on offense and we don't know if he can play defense (whether he has the instincts or the drive necessary). I think we were all looking forward to seeing glimpses of all of those things that we know nothing about during Summer League but no one can say they did during those five minutes because not only is it too small of a sample size, it's situationally corrupted.
I hope he turns out to be a rotation player ...right now though Keon Johnson and Jabari Walker would eat his lunch in a game ..my opinion but as I said...we'll see and I did preface it with.."small sample size" He's a high school kid who can shoot...if we see a two way player down the road I'll be happy but he's not there in my view. CJ nor Ant were in their rookie seasons either and CJ injured his foot early on. Work in progress is where I'm at concerning him now. Hope he's a quick study..both Keon and Jabari look NBA ready right now.
If you're saying you hope he turns into a rotation player this season then that's understandable. If you're saying that you hope the guy who was the number one recruit in his highschool class, who has wowed everyone in practices and we took with a top 10 pick turns out to be a rotation player in his career... come on!!! This dude should seriously be an allstar. Have you seen his shot? Have you seen him jump? Have you seen him handle the ball? Have you noticed how big he is? I know that's only one side of the ball and I know he could be braindead as far as BBIQ but I just don't think that's likely but hopefully we'll see sooner than later. By all accounts he'd been eating everyone else's lunch on this SL squad during practice. Every time one of his SL teammates was asked about him they would gush and laugh about how good he is and how quick he was picking stuff up after being out of the game for a year.
That one shot Sharpe did make was impressive. Making mid-range shots is an "area of improvement" for several of the top picks, Jabari Smith, Jaden Ivey, Benedict Mathurin for example, so Sharpe's in-between game was certainly one of the thing to watch in summer league. A lot of guys would have passed the ball out or thrown up an awkward shot in the same situation where Sharpe spun around and drained a fadeway. Too bad we didn't get to see more.
It's a shame he didn't get more minutes, but he didn't look lost. He did look a little rusty, but the turn around baseline shot was really smooth
Thank you. FYI If you add ?t=0m52s to the end of a YouTube URL it will auto play at that time. Substitute for whatever minute/s is.
Yeah. To me, it looked like he was just getting a feel for the flow of the game before asserting himself more.
I figured I’d see a lot of posts about “non contact” if that were the case, and I thought it would be weird if it were. Too bad health is our handicap in Portland. Hopefully he can stay healthy because nobody is guarding that step back that he hit.

Shaedon is lucky to have Chauncey as coach as once he heals up Chauncey is the type of coach that will give him run and allow him to get his confidence back. Which I don't think will be a problem.
Dude. He played for like 5 minutes and from that, it’s a miracle if he plays this season? It’s summer league. He may be a starter, he may be a scrub, but we can’t decide that from 5 minutes.
I'm not saying he won't earn burn ...I'm just saying summer league is super hype time for rookies...Bayless, Nolan Smith..even Biggie got hyped in SL .the kid doesn't have any experience ..in contrast our 2nd round pick Walker looked like he could play with anyone right now...sometimes the hype is correct, other times well...we won't know until we see him and it's too bad we didn't have more than a small sample size...I remember when Wes Mathews said Victor Claver was the best 3 pt shooter in practice once but in real games....couldn't do it. We'll see. I'm not predicting failure...I'm thinking, patience and development aka Ant...I'll be thrilled to be wrong about him. I've watched all the high school footage I could find on him and he's a freak athlete but that wasn't against Rudy Gobert or Jokic..He'll get really tested practicing against Nurk and Winslow Grant and Payton and Hart....see what they have to say when they've gone against him in practice.
