Wow man glad you are not a news story. That's some scary shit.

I had a similar experience around age 20 driving the cliffs in New Zealand, south island west coast. It's a lot like Oregon hwy 101 there. I was with a buddy and a hitchhiker we had picked up. Buddy was driving, got impatient, tried to pass a big truck on a blind turn and another truck appeared coming right for us at the worst possible time. Basically zero time to do anything, wall and truck on the left side, cliff on the right, truck coming right as, buddy punched it and we missed death by probably 6inches on the front and back. We pulled over as soon as we could and I threw up. Still wonder to this day if I actually died and I'm just living out some death dream.

That’s ultimately what got me to stop riding. I got rear ended at a stop light by an old guy in an SUV. I was sitting there in my car and I could see him coming up on me real fast. I had time to kinda brace for it and say, “well shit…..” before he smashed into my back. I was mostly fine. My back and neck have never quite been the same since then, but after it happened I couldn’t help but think that I would be dead if I had been sitting there on my bike.

It made me realize that you can be the safest rider in the world, you could wear all the protective gear, but some people are just bad drivers and are dangerous. It’s amazing to me that we barely test people before allowing them to take these giant metal death machines out into the public.

It's why I refuse to ride my bike on streets designed for, occupied by, and paid for by, cars.

Yeah... I have always liked the idea of commuting on a bicycle, but it never sat well with me that I'm a foot away from someone who isn't paying attention to the road. And then you compare all the protective gear that I wear when I'm riding a motorcycle and most bicycle riders are wearing spandex and a Styrofoam helmet.

Glad you made out unscathed. Go buy a lottery ticket!
When I was in early 20 I was a passenger in a car that rolled downed Mclouglin Blvd at 80 mph. I too crawed out the back window while the car was on the roof. It must have rolled 5/6 times. The driver and passenger (friends) were both thrown from the vehicle, driver was in critical condition but made it after about 3 weeks in hospital.
I was unscathed but in shock, lost my bearing on things.
Couldnt believe I walked away from it, gas was pouring down on me as I tried to get out of the car.

    Glad your good to go!

Glad you’re okay! Sounds like a horrible experience that will surely make the rest of your days feel that much sweeter.

Glad you are fine. We had a roll over when I was in high school that was a bit like that. Rolled over twice with 5 of us in a Ford Explorer due to my friend's terrible driving. Ended up dangling upside down from my seat belt and had to crawl out through a broken window. There was a severe cliff only a foot or two away that quite frankly was not survivable. Got lucky.

Also had a gun against my head on 2 occasions and survived an attempted murder by my dad. Good times.

I once bought a 1948 GM truck and drove it home through the Sierra Mountains on some steep winding roads and looked out the window and my wheel has sheered off and was going down the road in front of me.....I coasted on 3 wheels to a small pullover on the side (one of the few) and it clanked down and stopped....learned a real lesson about metal fatigue and running gear on old trucks. That was an adrenaline rush. Rusted lug nuts.

I've had too many and I don't want to relive them here at the moment...

    Glad you are okay though!

Was in India once, being shown the local sights in a taxi with a friend from there. Friend wanted to go on a crazy muddy mountain road that the taxi driver was scared to take, somehow he convinced/bribed the taxi driver to let him drive the taxi. We ended up trying to pass a truck on the cliff side, there wasn't room and the truck tried to push us over. It was slow motion but very scary - the taxi was damaged and the taxi driver was very, very unhappy with us.

You being you, as I was reading this I was convinced that it had to be a scene from some obscure movie I've never heard of.
