I agree that he is an undersized SF. But some guys can pull it off. The fact that he has spent some time playing PF indicates to me that he plays bigger than his length suggests while giving us 3 starters who can handle the ball. Plus at 215 lbs he is not small for the position...just short. (see Jason Tatum 210 lbs, Mikal Bridges 209 lbs, Jeremi Grant 210 lbs) I do think the length is more important but other things do factor in. (i.e strength, toughness, BBIQ, motor, coaching)
I just want a 6'8 long armed SF again is all. Is that too much to ask for? I want a 6'10" PF. Is that too much to ask for?
Don't they have some kind of dating app for this?....I'm sure you can find one...they might be blind but ..hey!
I like that excerpt put in Nurk for Watford. Nurk is a smart player, too, we just haven't used him to his potential. If he played with Walker and Winslow, I think Nurk would be playing at a consistently high level.
I will say, if our FO had offered their MLE to Jalen Smith instead of GP2, you could have had that--Grant at SF and Smith at PF. Sadly, that didn't happen.
Smith played well at the end of the season. But so did Watford. It will be interesting to see if there is much of a difference between the two when both teams are actually trying to make the playoffs.
The Blazers beat the Suns by 29 points last season. It was almost wire-to-wire. Phoenix's last lead in the game was 6-5 .
I think accelerated development from Walker adds the possibility of plenty of interesting lineups. These lineups are projection-dependent: Ant/Hart/Nas/Walker/Nurk If Walker can shoot right away, I have high hopes that this lineup on both sides. Walker should help both Nas and Nurk on D, and all of them should be fine covering for Ant. When Nas is hot, we’ll be raining 3’s. When he’s cold, we should still be fine, especially if Nurk continues to work on the 3. Having Nurk will also rapidly accelerate Ant’s PnR skills, I think he should play more minutes with Ant than Dame when playing with one of them, but Dame plays the PnR with Nurk when both guys are in the backcourt at the same time. Dame/GPII/Hart/Walker/Watford I think GPII, Hart, and Walker will make up for lack of size. GPII would be the worst shooter. Watford looked a lot better shooting the 3, he just needs to work on speeding it up. I think Dame could tear a bunch of bench units up in his lineup. I don’t want this lineup playing against starting Cs. If Watford can get better at handling the ball so he can grab and go, he can learn to play the Draymond role for Dame. These are some other ones: Dame/Hart/Nas/Grant/Watford Dame/Sharpe/Hart/Watford/Nurk Ant/GPII/Nas/Walker/Nurk
That works well defensively IMO. That way you get one more solid defender on the floor. But turnovers in the playoffs did turn out to be an issue for them.
