Chauncey Billups during the Draft Press Conference REALLY caught my attention... "We watched him workout in Chicago and we all left there amazed of his ability. For me, I wanted to see how competitive he was. He is a very quiet guy, very humble and quiet-really reminds me of Ant personality wise. When we brought him here, we had a very intense good workout. We had some guys that were very animated and I really wanted to see how he would handle it. If his confidence would waver if he didn't shoot or play well. I left there so impressed. He stayed composed the entire time, he had this really silent confidence that I really loved. He was very very competitive in the workout, I was impressed with his feet defensively, I didn't see that in the tapes because he didn't have to guard anyone in High School for the most part. I was impressed with him and like Joe said, he was our guy" As soon as we drafted Shaedon, the team put out unrealsed footage from the workout and most of it is actually Shaedon defensive highlights. Most of it is him absolutely locking down Jamaree Bouye who is a 23 year old 6'2 guard who signed an Exhibit 10 deal with the Miami Heat 2 weeks ago. There is a clip of Shaedon scoring a pull up 3 on Dalen Terry but this is a 1 minute clip so who knows what really happened during the workout BUT Chauncey's comments lead me to believe that Fisher and Woo are off base on what happened during the workout. Frankly it doesn't make sense that Fisher thought Dalen had a better workout and helped him land in the top 20 but then said sources in Portland weren't impressed with Dalen. I remember watching this interview by Dalen Terry and I think it obvious that Chauncey was referring to him as being the "animated" competitor that tested Shaedon. I believe that Dalen really tried to go at Shaedon because of the difference in their draft projections and Chauncey came away thinking that Shaedon competed, stayed composed, and had this silent confidence. That is pretty freaking sweet to hear in my opinion. I mean yeah there is the noise that he didn't want to compete and people are questioning his personality but this story from Chauncey give me hope that Shaedon will develop some more of that dog in him even if he has a introverted personality. That silent killer mentality is sick and the fact that didn't get phased is promising. Again, this is just one situation being highlighted but I think Sharpe workout enticed us on top of the mystery high school clips from over a year ago. Click through the first video to see all clips
Some athletes might look indifferent or like they aren't really engaged in a game or workout, but they are. It can be a great attribute. He's gonna face guys who get some of their motivation from shit-talking and when the opponent won't, or doesn't get distracted by it, it can take them out of their game. Plus, the ups and downs of emotions during a game can adversely affect a guys energy and psyche. Plus, you don't get that good or successful without being highly competitive. Those types of guys usually show that type of attitude in other ways and we haven't heard anything like that about him. Throw in the fact he'll be practicing every day with and against Dame and I doubt being competitive will be an issue.
Agreed! He’s the kind of competitor you want. He focus on what the game is giving you. He doesn’t get frustrated by a missed shot or turnover but he also doesn’t get hyped by an amazing play. He get going onto the next play. He got a strong mental game he got going. Someone like Paul George struggle with that, people forget that Paul George was awful in the bubble, he let the missed shot and the trash talking get into his head. Sharpe doesn’t let those voices get into his head. Dame is a perfect competitor for him to learn from
Good news with the shoulder. This is a GREAT environment that sets up for Sharpe. Lillard and Simons. Hart, Payton, Little and hard-hat-bench-guys.
I still find it fishy that dame and sharpe don't follow each other on IG while dame/walker and walker/sharpe follow each other. Dame followed sharpe initially, then unfollowed him just before posting that story/photo of him and Durant wearing blazer uniform. This makes me think we will trade Sharpe + assets for Durant at some point. I don't know how I feel about that. I think Sharpe will be a big time player.
So who else does Dame not follow, because it'd take more than Sharpe to get Durant. Let's get to the bottom of this!
Dame is not following DiDi and Justise. Every one else on the list below he follows. Dame GP2 Williams Ant Hart Keon Louzada* Little Sharpe GB3 Grant Winslow* Walker Nurk Watford Eubanks
Sharpe: I see myself being one of the greatest players to ever play the game of basketball. I don't think Kawhi is as provocative
I think the way he left the Spurs was pretty provacative...he's all about Kawhi from what I've seen....didn't even try to repeat in Toronto. My comparison is that they are the guys with poker faces that are hard to read
I see what you mean. Tim Duncan is the same way, so as Brandon Roy. . Players who don't show too much emotions. We'll learn more about Sharpe soon enough
If Dame never followed him I'd probably think nothing of it. The unfollow is the odd aspect of this, seems like something must have pissed off Dame or concerned him.
Meanwhile Dame followed and still follows Dyson Daniels on IG. I'm also seeing reports he did unfollow Sharpe on Twitter too but I don't have Twitter so I can't confirm
