I've been told that PK is not interested in, or intending to contribute very much to NIL, especially over the next few years. He thinks it will be a bottomless pit and that insane excesses will be common for 3-4 years. He's still willing to contribute to UofO athletic programs...things that benefit all the athletes. But he's not willing to pay off individual recruits

he probably knows full well that the UofO simply can't compete with the donor bases of schools like Texas, Texas A&M, Ohio State, Penn State, Notre Dame etc. And Eugene as an NIL media market has no hope against LA, Dallas, Miami, etc. The Los Angeles metro area has more than 3 times as many people as the entire state of Oregon. PK would be stupid to try and equalize those imbalances with his own cash...and he's not stupid

Oregon needs to stay in the Pac 10/12 for all sports except football. It's actually a great conference for all other sports.

In football, the Ducks need to go semi-independent.

    This is about money.

Ducks need to negotiate their own TV schedule for their 6 home games a year.

Play the regular Pac 10/12 schedule but the home games are all at night.

    Call it DUCKS AFTER DARK!

The Ducks will get a better TV contract on their own than they would with the rest of the conference.

Visiting teams would get more money from the Ducks than they would playing at a different Pac 10/12 team.

Right now Pac 12 teams each get about $33mil a year. Or $3.7 mill per Pac 10/12 game.

The Ducks, with a package of guaranteed Nike ad buys, could get a TV package of $50mil a year just for their 5 Pac 10/12 home games. Or $10 mil a game. They give the visiting team $2 mil, and keep $8mil per game for themselves.

I don't think the Ducks would get the type of money (and opponents) required to get a successful TV deal for both sides. The Big10 has already determined bringing them in now would actually hurt the bottom line, not help them. This is an SEC/Big10 or be 2nd tier type situation I'm afraid.

I agree with you that staying in the Pac12 makes the most sense for the non-revenue generating sports, but I'm not sure if that's going to be on the table.

Ducks are in a position to make their own table.

They need a separate TV deal if they are going to remain in the Pac 12.

I 100% agree with the second part.

I 100% disagree with the first part. I wish the Ducks were in a much stronger negotiating position than they are. They would be lucky to get into the Big10 with a discounted share at this point.

I don't think that's true. Fucking Canzano put that shit out there early and it was based upon old numbers and bad assumptions

Ducks have worked hard for 2 decades building their brand. The results are they have a huge national fan-base. 7th according to that and 2.36M more than the average Big-10 team. They ranked 10th nationally last season in viewership and would have ranked 5th in the Big-10. They can carry their own water and Fox sports knows that. Which is why Fox has been pushing for Oregon--->Big-10

more than that though is Oregon's branding has made them the most popular brand among 18-30 year olds, which is the most desired demographic for advertisers.

what the Big-10 has determined is that Stanford and Washington would hurt the bottom line, not Oregon. But those two schools are in large media markets and are premier research institutions, which appeals to Big-10 presidents. The Networks want Oregon, and Big-10 athletic departments do as well because they know the Ducks will at worst be revenue-neutral. Oregon has been the biggest revenue driver for the Pac-12 over the last 15 years

If the BigTen wanted Oregon, then why haven't they offered them a spot? Oregon would take a full share in 0.01 seconds. They don't have to offer them a spot with anyone else. They coud've offered them a spot instead of UCLA (much lower on the graphics you provided), but they didn't. Not to mention these graphics are 3 snap shots in time measuring variables that are highly correlated to winning. If Oregon wasn't winning, they would get far less media attention, time slots, etc.

I agree Oregon is a top 25 brand. If college football did a draft where only 40 school were allowed in the two big mega-conferences, Oregon gets in EASILY. However, that's now how this is shaping up. Teams like Minnesota, Northwestern, Vandy, and Missouri are benefiting from their past relationship.

If Oregon is a top 7-10 brand, as you suggest in these graphics, I want to know your thoughts on why the Big10 and SEC are fighting to throw more than a full share at them? Do you think they'll end up making as much on their next TV deal as Minnesota and Missouri? I don't.

I really think if we hadn't lost all our receivers we could have beaten Ohio State that year.

The College Football Experts that have been on Chad & Dwight's Show make it sound like Ducks shouldn't even make the trip. I say BUNK. Go kick their ass Ducks.

the timing is more of a surprise than the commitment.

for an untested coaching staff, they are recruiting extremely well. If the Ducks have a strong season they might close strong on NLI day in December (right now, I'm hoping they don't go 1-2 in the OOC schedule)

the one area of concern right now is O-Line recruiting. Klemm hasn't had a recruiting win since Conerly in the last cycle

We have always seemed to do well with lightly regarded O lineman
