Guess we're back. Names of guys Dame would like to add to the team (non-stars): 1. Mikal Bridges 2. OG Anunoby 3. Jarred Vanderbilt I tend to think the last one was not a random accident. Stay tuned.
Measured at 6-7 without shoes, with a 6-11 wingspan, (214 lbs) I realize Vanderbilt is a very good young energy guy, but he has no outside shot. I don't mind trading for him, but I doubt Danny is going to give him away and I don't want to give up too much for him. I think Utah will focus on getting rid of their vets unless they can get a steal for him.
The internal battle between pleasing Dame by overpaying for a limited defensive player or staying under the luxury tax.
if we really like him trade a guard (Keon) for Jared a big, keon did show signs of having a 3 pt shot last yr, Jared can't shoot the 3 ball
Sure, but that goes back to "Danny is not going to give him away". Utah indicated that they are really high on him when they made the trade. And although Vanderbilt plays bigger than his size, is he really "a big" at 6'7" (w/o shoes)
No one's acting like he can play the 5, but I doubt there are many (if any) PF's around the league that he can't capably defend. His complete lack of a perimeter game is really his only real drawback...and it's a big one.
I like him off our bench, but will he ever be a starter? My point is Danny will want too much in return and we already have backup PFs. But sure I would trade Keon and Brown for him.
IMO Keon has some good upside as well on both sides of the ball, haven't seen Jared play so can't compare the two. Keon is 20 and Jared 23, so that favors Keon as does his way better 3 pt shooting. Seems Keon is the type of guy Ainge might want to take a chance on - he'll get a ton of minutes in Utah and IMO has more upside at this time, whether he fulfills that "possible upside" is another story
