I don't think we have a big problem with the population bomb in the US unless millennials refuse to have kids... I think immigration could be a good way to shore things up for the 15-20 years until those kids join in the workforce though. Most of the rest of the world is screwed though.
Considering most in Texas would vote for DeSantis over Abbott … I don’t think Abbott has any chance and he knows that. So no, only one has eyes for Washington.
The border situation isn't going anywhere and ebbs and flows with the current events of the day. It's a constant in the sea of waves of Roe/Russia/Ian/Black Mermaids crashing on shore and dissipating. I don't think it needs to be brought up in this way, other than to distract from whatever other story is going on that they don't want people talking about.
It's not about drawing attention to immigration reform. It's about showing DeSantis can be as vicious as Trump and whipping up hate against outsiders. What did Saint Matthew say about I was a stranger and you took me not in? But that's not real Republican Jesus, the white one.
This is why I laugh when the Christians here try to play some moral superiority shit. They don't even follow their own religion. In reality, they are nothing more than misinformed pawns to actual fascists. Sad.
I'm torn on that as well. The food item that I know for a fact is 1000 times better, is California avocados over the big ass watery Florida avocados. Not even worth comparing.
It's true. Immigrants take on the jobs Americans are too lazy or "proud" to do. Instead of shipping them north for stunts to own libs, give them temporary visas, put them to work, and keep an eye on them till they become official American citizens. That's far better than using them as political pawns.
It's puzzling that places without huge illegal immigrant populations are able to fill these jobs. If we are giving out visas for working, they should be H1Bs from countries with a lot of smart tech type people like India and Asia, not places where we get an influx of cheap, uneducated manual labor from Latinx countries.
Hey, how about we put them to work building transitional housing and assisting immigrant transitions in the states with huge tracts of cheap land on the border? You know, like Texas. Then people seeking asylum could go to those towns, have jobs meeting the needs of other immigrants, while they are all transitioning legally. And we could start addressing some of our worker shortage... And we wouldn't have to run concentration camps like Nazis or treat needy people like animals in cruel pranks... Just a thought... Probably too progressive for Democrats to get on board with though...
Which places and jobs are these in the USA? Most major cities have a decent population of immigrants, and a worker shortage is being partially blamed for inflation. I have some landscapers in my backyard right now, Im pretty sure a few of them are illegal. I dont see any problem allowing people who want to bust some ass into the country. Labor is a skill also and I sure dont have the same skill as these guys. If we actually dealt with the issue it wouldnt be hard to set up a system. Lots of other countries allow labor on some level. I lived in NZ 25ish years ago, they took in tons of Indians, Polynesians and Asians for farm work. They all got government tax IDs and paid taxes even, I believe their visa was up to a one year stay with fairly easy options for renewal.
