Yeesh. Preseason or not, this Jazz team is built to win 20 games this year. The Blazers are supposedly filled with guys vying for the SF position and pecking order on the bench, and they get beat down by these guys?

It's weird to see our coach play 15 guys minutes. The Jazz played 18. I guess this was the "participation trophy" game, where guys, no matter how bad, get to suit up and run out on the court for a bit. This game had a looser rotation than HCP's wife.

nurk just cant help himself, how the fuck you foul out in a pre-season game

to small of a sample, but his finishing at the rim has been very, very good in these two games

I hope we don't have another Nic Batum on our hands!

I was thinking more of Moe Harkless, but either way, I certainly hope he can be more effective in taking advantage of his physical gifts.

Nic Batum would be pretty good i would think? You get 14/6 with a couple steals and blocks i think they could safely say he was well worth that pick?

    I hope we do better.

My expectation is that we start the year such that 39 wins is “hopeful” and slowly gel as a team and make our way to a 42-45 win team.

Am concerned about our smallness and positional redundancy (at least in areas of strength).

I will continue to hope for better but reality is keeping my homerish optimism in check.

    Gramps…

Hey, so far we're still looking better than LAST year's pre-season!

we have a 19 year old kid playing with grown men. He’s a year or two away from really contributing on this team which I’m ok with. Simons was same, sometimes you just need that extra time to mature and realize you belong. The talent is definitely there so I’m not worried

Why is Walker playing only 5 mins ? He's looked like the most NBA ready of our young guys.
Does Keon really need 20+ minutes ?

So, is it too soon to trade Lillard, Grant and Hart and start the tank for Wembanyama? ;)

With how they're playing, I'm not sure they'd need to.

Yeah, I’m sure the plan in the regular season will be to rest the starters in the 4th quarter and see if the end of the bench can carry the team to victory.

But we have more passes per possession now. Wasn't that the goal?

Even though our TOs are up and our FG% is down, the all important "ball movement" stat is up!

I think I have noticed Dame and Nurk starting the 2nd quarter of each game. Seems like Chauncey might be moving away from a
2nd team concept.....which I would love to see. Just mix them all together. I would go with last night's starting unit and bring Hart, Little, and GP2 off the bench. If they do that will there be a bench scoring woe? Add Watford and Eubanks to the mix sporadically. Those are your 10 players until an injury occurs.

pre-season games have meant less and less over the last few years. Used to be that coaches used pre-season, especially the latter games as templates for the rotation. That really doesn't happen anymore; it's much more experimental now than it used to be

    * Portland's 'mid-tier guys: Hart, Grant, Winslow have looked good, IMO. You kind of know what they will bring, and they have been bringing it

    * I never know what to expect with Nurkic. At times he's great; minutes later he's WTF?. He's been like that since he arrived in Portland; I doubt that will change. Does fouling out in 22 minutes mean he's in mid-season form?

    * I've always been skeptical about Chauncey's plan to run Dame off the ball more as a SG. It's never made a bit of sense to me, and essentially gives the opposing defenses the primary thing they want: Dame off the ball. And now, if the main result of running Dame off the ball is that Simons pounds the shit out of the ball like CJ did, this scheme needs to die ASAP

    * I don't like Callabro, yuck

You didn't use the word "Scheme" so you obviously don't know what you are talking about.

Chauncey and the players see it, and I believe Chauncey will feed him minutes.

There are not players other than Lillard on this team that are not "Mid Tier" or worse.

Because he is "Mid Tier" at best.

Well? You used the word "Scheme" so you must know what you are talking about.

Callabro is the least of this teams problems.
