I prefer Roth's. Their made to order deli is great, so is their produce and meat selection. Try the porketta and thank me later. When I have children down the road I'm sure I'll start looking for cost saving options, but for now, they're hard to beat.
Odd. I've never heard anybody say that. It's different for sure, but okay. This isn't a thread about Salem vs. Portland. Compare it to New Seasons, Market of Choice, or Zupan's or something.
I was talking about grocery stores, which was on topic. You brought up something totally different. Not trying to argue with a cat about something irrelevant this morning. I already scooped a litter box.
Kroger is Ralphs down here and its terrible. Even the nice "Fresh Faire" versions aren't that good. They do have Murray's Cheese Shop mini-store in some of them.
Zupan’s for all the good stuff you can’t get at Fred’s, Safeway, etc. Outstanding meat, produce and deli departments. Pricey but worth it.
meh ... it's a fine store but give me Freddies any day of the week ... at least before it was sold out!
WINCO is like a more palatable Walmart to me where their produce and meat are suspect but everything else is good ... though they did get me on the no credit card thing when I was up there last fall!
I do remember Zupan's in West Linn when I worked for Thriftway in Lake O. Nice store. Meanwhile, we have The Fresh Markets here. Mmmmm!! https://www.thefreshmarket.com/
The West Linn Zupan's has been gone for more than a few years. It is currently a Walmart (so un-West Linn like). Basically, the West Linn Zupan's replaced the Wizer's in Lake Grove when the Wizer family sold out.
I knew old man Wizer when he ran the produce department at the Food Center grocery store which he later bought and then moved across 'A' avenue and renamed Wizer's. It was my favorite grocery store in Oswego and later Lake Oswego. In my very early youth we only had two grocery stores, Safeway on First street and 'B' avenue and the Food Center on 'A' avenue and first avenue. I'm pretty sure ABM and HomerLovesKoolaid are too young to know that. I remember the old Oswego/Lake Oswego vividly. I'll bet I know as much history of that place as anyone and more than 99.9% of people who live or have lived there and I'm very proud of those memories.
