I would be just fine with Obama owning a portion of the Blazers. Actually Portland could use some positive publicity.
Hell No! Phil Knight and Phil Knight only. His son is only 49 years old born and raised here and would definitely I assume atleast get the team when his pops passes away. I think it’s known he’s close to his son. Blazers would essentially be in Portland for the next 30-40 years Atleast
Damn dude, you gotta learn to let things go, almost a decade ago and you're still upset he didn't change the kitty litter that week? Sheesh man. Let. It. Go.
NBA Forbes list just came out. Blazers worth 2.1B about what Phil Knight offered. Also I noticed that Milwaukee and Portland are the most expensive small/mid market teams outside of the obvious big top 10 markets Forbes listed
I just think having Phil for a little while and then his family owning the team would be huge. His son Travis owns a Portland based animation studio/production company and is a three time Oscar nominee for best animated feature film. The fact that he still operates out of Portland instead of being in Hollywood says a lot about this family's dedication to this area. They would invest in the team and city in ways we haven't seen before. It would be a Portland family owning the team and I don't think the importance of that can be overstated.
The Bucks valuation came at $3.5 Billion dollars I see why Jody flatly rejected Phil’s offer of a little over $2B that was reported. Granted Bucks have a brand new arena and a recent championship but as a similar small market, shows you Blazers are worth much more than what Knight offered
For comparison: • Milwaukee #35 DMA (895k TV homes) 17.4k avg attendance, 5yo Arena lease thru 2048. • Portland #25 DMA (1.14m TV homes) 18.6k avg attendance, 27yo Arena lease thru 2025.
Selling before the new TV money kicks in is lowballing....Jody knows that...she'll easily get 4 billion after the new deal....also she owns Moda which most franchises don't include in their franchise assets.
