My wife does it all the time though. Mental health days off or some shit, but she works for a university health system and I think has a union

 

Yeah it must be more common in my line of work. Its more of a daily grind than a lot of jobs

 

An older employee at my work once told me years ago before he retired that you win no prizes for having hundreds of hours of sick time

 

Our PTO comes in form of a monthly check/deposit. I invest as much as i can. That can give me some prizes out of not using my sick time.

 

I’ve taken 3 mental health days that could be considered hooky this year. I was just really tired and didn’t want to get up at 5:30 am lol

but my boss encourages this so, swaaaaaag

 

Yeah, I'm on a computer all day. I have a pretty abusive/hostile work environment though.

 

Had a boss one time that didn't care if we called in 30 minutes before a shift. I asked him one time why he let that happen, his response "I figure they have somewhere better to be and if they are here they'll just be a pain in the ass, as long as the work gets done than I don't care."

 

You get bored after a while.

I went to work one time looped out of my head with pain killers after getting four wisdom teeth pulled. My boss ordered me to go home.

I’ve used maybe 10-12 actual fully vacation days in 12 years at my current job. I often travel and work from wherever and enjoy my days and keep shit going, work-wise. I’m always on the clock but able to step away from the desk as needed. Pop on later to clean up my email.
