Please explain to me how gerrymandering affected a governors race that has nothing to do with districts and is just a straight popular vote. I'm hearing the same word come out of peoples mouths in Texas and figure they just don't know what it means. Obviously I get how it can give the governor's power to keep the state house/senates one way or the other, but it had nothing to do with DeSantis/Abbott winning.

Florida Republicans drew maps. DeSantis asked them to redraw them because they didn't fuck the Dems enough.

He thinks it paints him in a better light, making his case to run for President stronger. That's all it is.

It does and I would expect the repubs to cast him aside now. I dont see DeSantis running got really young kids and a wife with cancer?

Nothing has made him look weak among the cult. That's the's the problem. Guy is married 3 times, has paid off women who he had sex with or whatever, was friends with the Clintons, friends with Epstein, is a horrible businessman, a braggart, not at all religious and a bully...yet the conservatives are so hell bent on "owning the libs" (because they're afraid of change and no longer having the unearned advantage) that they'll put up with him doing whatever.

DeSantis is popular in Florida (and among rubes), but no one else.

We will see. They were all stepping aside days ago with Trump ready to announce his candidacy, with everyone afraid to run against him. The fact is he will run. His ego ensures it. He's going to announce it next Tuesday. Will others run against him?

DeSantis seems to be the Republicans most popular candidate next to him. If he doesn't run, then who? I didn't know his wife had cancer. That sucks. I wish her well.

It will be interesting to see how 2024 shapes up. I don't want Trump or Biden running. I don't think 80 year olds should be running for president.

    Personally, I'd like Pete Buttigieg.

But I'd take Joe Biden in a coma over Donald Trump. Even tho I know saying that will cause a few on here to go "derp derp, Joe already IS in a coma! derp derp" or whatever, but you can't compare Trump to Biden and not actually see that Trump is a blistering idiot who doesn't make sense.

Georgia is going to officially have a run off for Senate.

Someone please tell Herschel Walker that doesn’t mean from his kids

And abortions rights affirmed in blue California and Vermont, swing Michigan, and deep red Kentucky.

How gerrymandering helped Governor's race: Black voters stayed home in droves. Not only fear of election police but hugely gerrymandered map makes people think their vote won't count.

At least the runoff will give people more time to uncover some of the other abhorrent shit that Walker has done in his lifetime?

I was looking to see where Blacks stayed home in droves. Would like to see that report.

Like something is going to come to light that’ll shock his voters? Nothing matters anymore. He’s dumb as a post and a liar. It’s the “5th Avenue” syndrome.

Any guesses on the over/under for how long it will take to get a permit issued to buy a gun?

Right now it's about 12-18 months to get a tax stamp for a suppressor from the ATF. I'm going to say at least that long. God forbid you're a woman who has a stalker and you want to buy protection. I guess you'll be able to go get a gun in a year maybe?
