Oh did he? I had no idea honestly. Even more so If you had not brought him up i would never had even remembered the guy.
of course i know who Gary Grant is. Even before he was a Blazer. Enjoyed him as a Clipper to be honest. At least he's not like former Blazer Brian Shaw.....never will forgive him for that gd bank in 3 pointer at the end of the 3rd quarter in the game that will not be numbered.
Teammates call him Shae. That's it. That's his nickname. He doesn't need a comic book nickname. Similar to Damian Lillard. He's Dame. That's it.
He seems to have big first halves and then seems to be really quite in 2nd half. Like to seem him make the jump to being a bigger contributor in 2nd half. Steps in his process, my goal for him is to make it impossible for us to keep Hart because he needs starter minutes. That’s no slight on Hart love what he brings but kid will need a spot soon. Then you package Hart, Little and Nurk for a center.
Hard not to notice it. I haven't any data to go off of, but it feels like Billups plays him much more in the first half--maybe a few minutes in the third. But in the fourth he leans much more heavily on vets, and when he does play Sharpe in the second half he doesn't really run plays for him. I get it--Billups is trying to win every game and he hasn't built up enough confidence in the rookie. It'll come as the season progresses. At some point this season Sharpe is going to put together some complete games, and everybody is going to wonder about this high school kid who just dropped 30.
Watch at 1:10. Dunk Contest worthy dunk right there. He looks more like an in-game dunker than he is a creative dunker to me, but that is a 10 dunk.
Fun listening to Lamar Hurd talk about how Sharpe is just destined to put up 50 points. When he made the comment it didn't feel like Mike Rice-level hyperbole. It was just a simple fact.
You know what, I enjoyed Rice, but I am learning to appreciate Hurd more and more. I mentioned that I got to watch portions of the Blazers Warriors game from 2016 yesterday - and Rice was, frankly, quite boring and not that insightful in it.
He's like your old grandfather, who still does the same jokes and tricks to you, that he did when you were 8. Sure, you love him, but he's forgotten that you're not 8 years old anymore. He was knowledgeable ( referring to Rice, not your grandpappy) but went full on shtick mode when he went to TV.
