Should Chauncey be on the hot seat?

Billups is the Nathaniel Hackett of the NBA. We need to shake things up and get rid of him.

My test has always been: Are you more likely to be able to identify and acquire a noticably better replacement. If so, pull the trigger.

There are ways to work the back channels to figure out who is available and interested prior to letting a coach go.

Absolutely. Has anyone else experience this kind of repeat cycle before? Game after game same shit. They won’t move on, but they should.

I think the repeat cycle is folks on this message board wanting to fire the coach, then within a couple years, wanting to fire the next one. These folks haven't thought one coach in the last couple decades has been any good, yet for some reason they think the next one might be the one.

We got a guy with no experience and it shows. And this is our second coach in over 10 years, what are you talking about?

And are you watching the games?!? There is no way you are otherwise you wouldn't act like the repeat cycle isn't a thing.

Did you honestly get the feeling after their second time scratching and clawing back into that game against the Raptors that they quit on themselves? I didn't see that at all? Where will this place stand if this team wins 3 or 4 straight now? How will you react if this team wins 8 of the next 10? The next month is full of teams this team not only can beat but should beat. They have a tough B2B next weekend against the Mavs here in Portland. That will be fun to watch.
All the downers can do their own thing. Me personally I'm enjoying this season. They have done everything i was hoping they would do to this point. Feb 14th is the last game before the All Star break. Between Now and that game they have exactly 4 road games. 3 of those games are in one trip. 15 home games over the next 5 weeks. Then they all get a 9 day break. 13-6 over the next 19 games puts them 32-25 going into the break. 7 games over .500.

Personally i just cannot see how anyone could look at the schedule and not see that this team is in a good position for the rest of the season?

This is not the team we saw in November. Yes, there's always some luck. Other team misses free throws, for example. But over and over I am seeing the Blazers unable to hold late leads. I see an expectation of defeat. Like last year. I have no idea what caused this collapse but the Coach damn well should.

It's gotten to the point where I have stopped watching because I keep getting upset over something I have no control over.

This team has a legit superstar, solid complementary players, a talented rookie. Yet they seem to be going backwards.

in theory, yes. given the timeline we have with Dame and the urgency to win now.

in reality, not unless ownership changes. Chauncey has three years left on his deal AFTER this one. doubt vulcan will give the go-ahead to even entertain replacing him this early. And everything suggests the franchise is taking the long term approach and will give him the leeway to work out his issues.

i think chauncey has shown he can be a good coach. his principles are sound and i like the way he communicates and relates to players. but the on-court product has left a lot to be desired so far as he's growing.

Chauncey isn't responsible for what is currently the worst bench in the NBA.

I've watched the majority of games for 30 years. Fans have bitched about how bad Billups, Stotts, Nate, Cheeks, Dunleavy, and PJ were.

Who was the last coach we had that lived up to your standards? Adelman?

He should not be on the hot seat. However, if we can get a proven coach who has proven they can win in the playoffs we should do so. Unless Chauncey starts overachieving.

Same stance I had with Stotts. Though Stotts had more success to leverage.

Yes and in theory the Blazers should go after Quinn Snyder but reality says they probably won’t.

We need a guy like that as our lead assistant, specifically focused on offense.

But often nobody knows if they're going to be good! Half the excellent coaches in the NBA I never heard of before they became coaches. The guy in Utah. The guy in Boston. The guy in Memphis. The guy in OKC...

I maintained at the time and I still maintain that Chauncey hired Scott Brooks as his assistant so that if the FO was thinking of firing him, they'd go "do we really want Scott Brooks to take over? Nah!"

Really? Whom do the Grizz have coming off the bench that's super-experienced?
