I want to see Dame have a shot at a championship. The trouble is, the teams that could really use him (primarily the Lakers and the Clippers) have almost nothing to offer in return. They've already traded away all their picks and good young players. Is there ANY contender that (a) would want Dame and (b) can offer us anything we'd want? I used to think Brooklyn with Ben Simmons, but he really isn't even TRYING to score any more.

I'm pretty damn sure Dame is staying. You might want him to win a championship elsewhere but he is still committed to winning one here. You might think you know better than him but that would seem a little silly.

only the Lakers would take Dame and give back two picks in 27 and 29. He doesnt want to go evidently.

nothing personal Rasta but fuck that.....you don't trade a once in a generation face of the franchise because he MIGHT win a ring somewhere else....Portland doesn't get nice things and when they do, you don't throw them under the bus.

    (a) It's NOT throwing him under the bus! It's putting him on the bus to title-town!
    (b) Sorry to break it to you, but we've had Dame's best (the "nice things") already. Let somebody else have his increasingly expensive and decreasingly great remaining years.

No..it's disrespecting his loyalty and desire to win in Portland and end his career here....it's a fan being butthurt about a guy he doesn't even know my friend...Dame will have great years in Portland...no reason to think he won't unless you've stopped being a Blazer fan....as a fan...I'm never trading this sort of leadership to enhance another team's sucess...fuck that .Dame put up 50...I don't see that as "decreasingly great" Lebron and Duncan were great all through their 30s..Dame will be too...we need to get better by addition not subtraction

so then you'd obviously be in favor of a trade like:

Dame + Winslow (Winslow because Blazers want to stay under the tax)

    for

    Westbrook + Lakers 2026 first + Lakers 2028 first

that's about the range of what the Blazers could expect...you'd vote yes, right?

ok....I get it. All the stuff about getting Dame a championship elsewhere is phony cover. Dame has given Portland everything he could and he's going to fall off the pace 2-4 years from now....so fuck him

You people complaining are assuming the trade happens against his will. Clear it with him first, then! For all you know he just hates complaining in public but would actually be okay with going to a contender.

Anyway, it's moot, because as I said, there's essentially no overlap between (a) teams that would want him, and (b) teams that have assets we would think close to fair exchange.

The best I can come up with off the top of my head: Miami might do another of their go-for-broke trades and figure that a threesome of Jimmy Butler, Dame and Bam is a contender.
They send Kyle Lowry to us (this is the bad part - he's got a stupid contract for someone so old), and send Tyler Herro to the Spurs. The Spurs (a) have a shitton of cap space, so can absorb Herro's Poison Pill salary, and (b) have a shitton of picks - second only to OKC, who somehow have no capspace, probably because the way they acquired so many picks was eating other people's castoffs and then waiving them.

    BUT:
We end up with Lowry's contract, and
Would the Spurs really want Herro?

No, apparently you waste their career by putting shit teams around them.

Dame' career is hardly wasted in my view but if that Gary Payton ring is incentive to throw away your nest and investments to move an extended family and 3 kids ...then that'll be a choice he makes, not me.. I don't think we've put a shit team around him, I think we've lost 3 important bench players to injury and are having some coaching growing pains at the end of games. My target is on the sophomore coach with the losing record, not the scoring champ of the franchise.
Winning an Olympic gold medal is something that has been the peak of many HOF players who never won rings. Dame's done that now. Being voted top 75 all time is an accomplishment few can brag about.

No snark intended but do you have a source? Not so much about Dame not wanting to go because I think he's made that pretty clear publicly and to whatever sources the media are using but about the Lakers being the only team interested or at least that being the best package available.

of course I don't know for sure. do YOU know for sure dame wants to stay? Of course you don't; maybe he is lying... There was a rumor a few weeks ago about the lakers wanting dame.
This is a forum for opinions. By definition 99.999% of the shit on here is an opinion

Like I said, no snark intended. Just wondered if there was a reporter who was sharing their opinion that no one else would give up anything for Dame or more than that Lakers package. You thinking that is the best and maybe only offer out there seems reasonable to me.

This organization just cannot/will not find a way to support Dame and give him a strong supporting cast that fits together. I dunno why.

I do. Our ownership, probably one of the wealthiest, is worried about staying out of the tax, I guess because the Vulcans need a pristine business model.
    Does it really matter?
Spend like a drunken Whitsitt Jody. It's our last hope for Dame.
