17 million of that Turner extension comes this season. After this, it'll be 2 years, one at I think it was 20.9, the next 19.9. I love that move for Indy.

I hadn't noticed. Numbers for this season:

    upload_2023-1-28_14-55-49.png

might be a little skewed in Turner's favor since he's having easily the best overall year of his career

their career numbers are much more even:

    upload_2023-1-28_14-58-55.png

really close. I like that Bamba is a better rebounder, but even as a shot-blocker and in offensive efficiency

I think they both have had quite a few injuries

kind of hard to believe that Orlando would not be willing to move one or two bigs:

    Franz Wagner 6-9
    Bol Bol 7-2
    Paolo Banchero 6-10
    Mo Bamba 7-0
    Wendell Carter Jr. 6-10
    Moritz Wagner 6-11
    Jonathan Isaac 6-11

I didn't know teams could do that, or what CBA rule allows it

and yeah, 20M/year is a lot better than 30M/year

What a deal for Turner. He's still gonna be moved, but at that price, it's much more attractive to other teams.

I like Bamba too. Would be willing to gamble on that upside.

Well, it would give us the flexibility to trade Nurk if we need to combine a few salaries.

I think ideally I’d like to peel Wendell Carter Jr from Orlando but I’d be fine with Bamba

I don't think they can move him until the summer now though, right?

Disagree. It’s two more years. Not 4 or 5. In one year it becomes expiring. If he is earning it you have a good deal. If not you end up with an expiring contract.

I see a lot of people agreeing with you, and that is OK. I personally just don't see it with Turner. And especially with his terrible injury history. Just not a fan.

I'm pretty optimistic that we could make a move for a star player but I don't even think we should be shopping for that star player from the roster of the team with the best record in the league.

Watching the Kings struggle with the Wolves and the Lakers competing with the team with the best record in the league, really makes me impatient with Joe. This is the season that the league is the most wide open it's been in a long time and there's no telling when it will be again. So if there is any way to put a highly competitive roster around Dame, that works in Chauncey's system... waiting until the off season to make that happen shouldn't be the mindset.

To me even they look very beatable. I wouldn't be surprised if they end up winning it all this season but I also won't be blown away if they end up getting upset the way they did the Sonics back in 1994. The parity is crazy right now. If we make moves that balance this roster and make it make sense around Dame and Chauncey's system, while simultaneously mortgaging our future for the right second star... I wouldn't be afraid of the Nuggets in a seven game.

The fact the MVP vote can swing from one game to the next proves it's fucking stupid to talk about it until the end of the year.
