Ware is/was the highest projected prospect in the game, but he's on Altman's shit list and still only played 10 minutes despite Dante being out. Billups probably likes Da Silva better than any of them. Regardless, I'm guessing he was just down to support his team given that they have a few days off.
That might mean either Altman has given up on him or he has already told them he'll be transferring. I wouldn't want to be an NCAA coach right now.
Altman has been pretty blunt about it: While meeting with reporters on Tuesday, Altman was asked about Ware’s effort and lack of consistent production through the first 20 games of the season. During Oregon’s loss at Stanford last Saturday, Ware played a season-low six minutes and did not take a shot. “We’ve had a lot of conversations,” Altman said. “They haven’t gone as well and haven’t been as constructive as we want them to be. I was disappointed in his effort. I let him know that. He’s gonna have to make some adjustments or I’ve got to make some decisions. His time has been reduced. That doesn’t help us, because he is talented.” This isn’t the first time this season that Altman has publicly criticized Ware’s effort. Following Oregon’s home win over Oregon State on Dec. 31, Altman paid a backhanded compliment to the freshman, noting that Ware had played with energy in that game and “at least acted like he wanted to be here tonight.” Since that moment, though, Ware has not played more than 15 minutes in a single game. “He hasn’t blocked any shots lately. He hasn’t gotten any hands on balls,” Altman said. “He’s not using that length. We’ve still got to try to put the best team out there that gives us the best chance. “If he’s playing hard, that helps us. But if he’s not, that hurts us.” those are pretty harsh evaluations coming from a HC
Altman said last week that he and Ware had discussions about what it would take for him to play more and they didn't end up being as constructive as he had hoped. Certainly not a good sign for Ware being at Oregon next year (I don't think they ever thought he'd be at Oregon 2 years), but it also plays into the "Ware is lazy" "Ware lacks a motor" narrative he had coming out of high school. This could certainly scare off an NBA team come draft day.
Harbor watched the 2nd half of last nights Duck win over Utah from the front row of the student section. Signing day is Wednesday STOMP
Rivals national guys are now predicting Harbor to UO, we'll know tomorrow around 10 AM. The buzz is that while on his Official Visit over last weekend, Uncle Phil stopped by to help welcome him to Track Town. I'm reading that if Nycholes goes to UO, it's expected his primary sport focus will at least initially be track. STOMP
And if, while pursuing his running career, he happens to get the inclination to tackle people, there will be people around who will gladly accommodate that. Works for me.
From what I'm reading his real hope is to make the Olympics as a Sprinter in 2024. If so, he'll have to hone his body towards leaner (220-225 lbs) which would make the WR/TE projection for football more likely. However, he has also stated that he feels his best position for an NFL career is DE where he absolutely wrecked shop in HS. That would require him to bulk up considerably... he self reported to playing his Senior year at 238 lbs. Depending on how the Sprinting works out, you may get your wish at the tail end of his college career. STOMP
Maybe they're just trying to build up some drama, but the national rivals guys are saying speedster DB Rodrick Pleasant to Oregon is looking more likely. His announcement is scheduled for 10:30 this morning. Below is a link containing the fastest HS 100M times in 2022 with Pleasant at 10.14 & Harbor at 10.22 https://trackandfieldnews.com/2022-high-school-boys-absolute-top-10-lists/ On the Womp Waah side of predictions, the main insider at the Oregon rivals site predicts the Ducks lose out on both... we shall see soon enough STOMP
