I think if the team had a decent 7 footer who was on the team, Nurk (if not traded) would have to be the backup.

It's like Chauncey's defense needs a guy who can actually move and on offense Nurk is wildly inconsistent both moment to moment and game to game.

Nurk is a good C for a team that thinks they can coach away his idiotic tendencies on offense and has a drop coverage scheme on D... they should still have a mobile big that can split minutes with him and start over him against certain lineups. With Chauncey never ever going with drop coverage and always switching everything Nurk's defensive excellence is severely diminished and that only makes his offensive bullshit more exhausting.

Portland would really have to make Nurk attractive by including extras in a deal. Boston is looking for a big but they have no apparent interest in Nurk. It was the wrong move to give him thay deal. Therefore I have no confidence that Joe can unload him. I fully expect Joe to get fleeced with Hart too. Probably get back a second rounder for him.

If by "we" you mean: Kristaps Porzingis, Nikola Vucevic and Andre Drummond, then your statement is true.

We definitely are getting hurt by our lack of size right now... I'm not sure it's hurting us more than Nurk's lack of mobility when he's playing. This isn't me saying that Nurk is a net negative or even net neutral as an NBA player but he is a net negative the way Chauncey has him playing.

I think the idea was either he works out or his contact is very moveable with the new upcoming tv deal

that would be the final year of the contract. Have to 'endure' 2.4 more seasons of Nurk before then....youch!

I think everyone is aware of it, so some people might be willing to trade for him earlier, but sure.

Quite often in these cases gms have to overpay a bit if there is a chance it works. I suspect that is exactly what happened here

Joe did not screw up by giving Nurk that money he had to sign him or get nothing in return and if fans do not get that they are kind of silly. If Joe would have let Nurk walk and got nothing fans would have been ripping into him for that sometimes you cannot win being a GM of any team. I love how backseat GM's think they know more then everyone else and sure it is fun to play around with ESPN trade machine etc but we the fans how ZERO clue how it really is.

I don't think it's that he signed him. It is that he, like Neil, signed him to that 4th year on the contract.

Also it's not like Nurk is playing like garbage cause big men that have skills you have to pay a little of a premium for them so Cronin was between a rock and a hard place and fans need to realize this instead of being so critical when he was in a no win situation.

Very few thought so when he did it. Still figure Nurk is worth it in the right situation.
