Kevin Love didn’t look to spry when we played the Cavs.

And yet he’d STILL be better than what we are rolling out there.

There is no nibbling around the edges that will let this team transform with a big trade. There just isn't.

Second rounders and getting under the luxury cap won't plug the holes left by losing starters AND get this roster out of mediocrity. Banking on Portland being able to move first rounders in efforts to make that happen seems like hoping for gasoline to be tossed on a slowly burning building.

It's great to be optimistic, but the "making bad deals is fine because Cronin says he's still going to make more moves" logic holds no water in my opinion.

If we can get Nurk off the books in a Love trade then fine. Love is a FA I believe.

He is getting paid 29 million dollars this year and is averaging 11 points per game and plays 0 defense.

I'm convinced you guys have no understanding of the game whatsoever if you want this guy. Like this is an actual discussion in this thread that 35 yr old Kevin Love is an actual target? For fucks sake...

Especially as our starting C. I like him as a minimum contract signing next season, to maybe play 6 minutes a night, and "bring him home" sort of feel good vibe.

Unless we want to torture ourselves with another cap space plan! And dumping Nurk for his expiring helps give us that Charlie Brown football of cap space.

I said specifically if this trade allows us to both get Vanderbilt (which I would see as "nibbling around the edges") and free up three future FRPs and three other FRP swaps (those would in theory be used to do more than nibble around the edges).

What capspace? We'd be close to the tax line without Nurk (with Jerami back)

The cap next season is expected to be around 134. If Hart opts out, we dump Nurk, and waive cap holds, we could likely get to about 30 million in cap space.

If half a season of Love riding the bench gets us out of 3 years of wasted cap on Nurk then what’s the problem? You act like we are a piece away from contention. No one thinks love is good just like no one wants Nurk anymore, it’s the lesser of two evils for 30ish games instead of the 3 more seasons. Pretty simple math really.

You're also letting Jerami go in this scenario?

It was a joke. Cap space plans don't work here. But yes, in that scenario, I'd be trading Jerami for expirings and picks.

And then one year later, traded for KG and Ray Allen without giving up Pierce. He’s a GM god.

Yes lets dump Nurk while his value is at his lowest. This seems to be Cronins modus operandi. Selling low.

Where have you read any single post of mine thinking we are one piece away?

KLove was 6th MOTY candidate last year. He has value as shooter/rebounder off bench.

You make the assumption that Nurk's value will get higher. It might, but maybe, just maybe, being an often injured slow center in a league that is moving away from slow centers is as high as it gets... especially if he continues to play for a coach that will not play for his strength...

Nurks “value” has been the same for a long time now, jack shit. I’m not sure why you believe he’s gonna morph into something different than an outdated slow inconsistent lazy lumbering 7 footer who plays small but he’s not. Stop being fooled by the occasional flash he provides, the Beast era ended 2 1/2 seasons ago. Time to cut losses not compound them by wasting a roster spot on a guy till we can hopefully find some magical trade that brings back anything of significance. I’ll take the cap space and the roster spot for next season in a heartbeat.

I asked earlier in this thread. What is the current market for Nurk? After this summer's extensions, there will be approx 20-25 starting centers who will be paid more than him. Myles Turner just got an extension getting paid double what Nurk is.

The idea that Nurk is overpaid is a farce to begin with. His per year value will be only a few mil more than the new MLE.

This in and of itself will increase his trade value without even getting to the on court stuff.
