I don't think getting a taller SF and a second team all nba defensive player in Thybulle is getting nothing...nor a first round pick in this loaded draft. Fact is we wanted guys who got shipped elsewhere and instead of Hart walking in the off season for nothing in return...we got a younger taller player and a pick....we are a bottom of the league defense with Hart on the floor as it is...defense is an area we needed to improve in. I totally understand why Joe made fringe moves...for one thing...big moves weren't dealing with what we could offer. Big market teams cleaned up and small market teams picked the scraps...we'll see how it goes but Nurk and Ant are not being traded. This much is very clear at this point. We aren't contending this year so it's a development year for guys like Sharpe.
Dame alone is worth watching. Jody has to pay Jerami Grant off season ....I don't see any of her contracts as "cheap" or standing pat....Chauncey won't survive the summer if he misses the playoffs I'd say but this team is being built this year...no chemistry or championship expectations in my view...I'll always be a Blazer fan. But he might get you a first and 2nds. Nurk his injuries had caught up to him and did get traded he probably be backup center on good team. Majority is not dumb this probably Nurk last contract. Sharpe your still finding out how good he will be. Dame not going anywhere until he requested it. Grant he probably one your pieces going forward. Everyone else is throw in on trade. The Blazers should absolutely fire Cronin because a bunch of online fans had highly unrealistic expectations about moves he coulda-shoulda made. Never mind if he has plans for bigger moves this summer and what he did before the deadline set him up for them.
I am now on this bandwagon -- I was trying to make excuses and reasons kind of both why he was making some of the moves he made but plain and simple he sucks BUT I will say Jody needs to go too. It's a package deal when it comes to sucking and they have both done this to this team so there fates are tied together.
I don’t understand the anger. Cronin has been transparent since the offseason. He said this team is not complete and it would be a multi-year process. This team wasn’t a contender yesterday and definitely not a contender today with the moves made by other teams to improve. Outside of getting KD, there were no stars to be had that would have made this team anywhere close to a contender this year or next. I’m glad Cronin held strong to his plan and didn’t make a move out of panic just to make a move. OG Anunoby was probably too expensive and wouldn’t make this team a contender anyway. The landscape of the league changed dramatically with the KD trade. It looks like they punted on this season and I don’t mind it for now.
what makes you think Grant will even stay? So over the next 18 months two all star caliber players are going to be had using Ant and Nurk and picks? And no other teams will go after them??
