Why does it matter after the trade deadline? It's not like the Blazers will go over the tax.

Wondering about the possibility of injuries and such.

Again, Blazers not good enough to go over the tax limit, so that does not matter, especially if there are injuries.

??? What does that have to do with the hard cap? Blazers don't have any more exceptions they can use to bring them over the hard cap, and even if there is a season ending injury why would the first thing you think about is whether we would even use that exception?

Still hard capped, but it doesn't matter. There is no way Portland can get anywhere remotely close to the hard cap (currently sitting ~$10M below).

There is enough room that if Portland wanted to, they could cycle through a bunch of minimum contract guys and still be below the lux tax line.

The rule states you can't go over the cap for any reason. I was just curious.

Really? Olshey would have doubled down on Hart / GP2, I think.

It was a mediocre trade haul for mediocre talent going out. I will give you that, but it was a faster turn-around than what we have seen with NeO, I think.

OK, that's fair. I suspect that the guys they got were mostly for salary purposes (other than MT which they got for a specific role). They mostly got rid of under-performing assets (GP2, unfortunately) or ones that were going to walk away (Hart) for draft capital and whatever reclamation projects they could get.

I suspect Reddish, Knox and the other guy they got from NYK are just for salary purposes.

I'd say "fire the owner" to begin with, we need new ownership willing to make changes and pay if necessary, otherwise IMO any GM we hire hands are tied

I think he got us two FRP's besides all those second rounders as he made moves that will only help us in the future and will (hopefully) keep us as a lottery team this year and thereby retain our pick. He did not waste picks on moves that would only help marginally.

People thought we'd trade Sharpe and Ant for Durant....we don't have the luxury of expensive rentals. It's simple...Joe couldn't seal the deal on plan A or B so settled for C before it was too late...hence Cam Reddish and a first for Hart.....Utah strung Joe along it looks like and went for the bigger deal. Shit happens....that's not Joe's fault, from what I read he was engaged in trying to acquire a lot of players fans here want but couldn't get them in the end...so he made fringe moves while he could. Jody isn't paying the luxury tax for a team below 500 that's been streaky all season

Man really, stop telling me how to feel.

All of the things I said need to happen. Jody needs to sell this team. Plain and simple. She was the one who didn't want to go into the tax. Cronin (who never had any competition for his job) is the one who WASTED money on GP2 only to trade him back to the team he left FOR NOTHING. I could go on and on about the ineptitude of Joe Cronin BECAUSE of Jody.

Frankly, I don't need to be told how to feel or how to react to this.
