We don’t play the Warriors at home until the last game of the season. We have to wait until April 9th to boo this man into oblivion.
This shows that somebody was blatantly lying. But would seem to indicate it's coming from Warriors, not Payton, as I don't think his agent would stab him in the back.
What do the Warriors want? Are they hoping they can embarass Portland into agreeing to (in the future) give them a couple of second round picks for an worthles expiring player?
If it’s the Warriors, then it looks like they’re going to play this to the end. They’ve filed a complaint against us with the league office.
So, we want GPII, but we don't like what Portland extracted from us. F*** that. Approve the trade or forget it. You can't have it both ways.
Fuck the Warriors man. The league better not allow them to keep the trade and preserve their “right” for recourse. It seems like they didn’t want to give up 5 second round picks and are determined to screw us.
According to this Woj article, the basis for the Warriors complaint is that they weren’t informed by the Blazers that GP2 was receiving Toradol shots. So either GP2 is lying to them or Aaron Goodwin is committing career/business suicide by lying and throwing his own client under the bus. https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id...-face-sunday-night-deadline-gary-payton-trade
I think he got shots at some point in the recovery but not to play games. That would be the only way for both things to be true (other than Shams’) shitty reporting. In any case, there are things we don’t know. However, we do know Shams and Woj are super-shitty journalists (glorified TMZ for agents and owners, respectively) and Gary is a little bitch whose teammates hate him.
Part of me wonders if this is kind of like when Hollinger was convinced he knew Dame was going to or had asked for a trade. Kinda ruined his reputation when Dame clapped back.
The Godwins are Dame’s people if I’m not mistaken. I think they are more worried about the Blazers than GP.
My guess is Payton embellished some things, it got out and took on a life of its own, Portland, agents and players began disputing it, and the Warriors decided to take it up probably because the NBA won't do anything against them if it's discovered it was a trumped-up allegation. The Warriors don't have anything to lose in this ... they can just play into the smear and people will eat it up, and they're one of the league's darling franchises, so there'll be no repercussions for them pulling this.
My guess is, if the last tweet is true and it's about the Warriors implying that the Blazers didn't let them know they had been giving him shots (which his agent has since denied), it kind of sounds like a case of "just covering our grounds/backing our player". It wouldn't surprise me to find out nothing wrong was done by the Blazers and A: Fans won't believe it B: The Warriors will gaslight the hell out of this C: Fans will bring it up until the end of times (both against Payton and against the Blazers) D: Damian still will drink like a fish.
That doesn't make any sense. If he were FORCED to pick a side, he would go with Dame. However, there was no need for Goodwin to even make a statement at all. The fact that he spoke up speaks volumes to me
