You do realize that "going green" is a gradual policy that will take years, right?...and that we will still have a certain amount of dependency on some fossil fuels for years, right?...and that refining our own oil helps to reduce our dependency on oil from elsewhere, right?

Yes, I know because I read that before posting it. I figured your earlier comment about "can't be compared" was a subtle tongue in cheek remark relating to our earlier back and forth and I also figured you'd pick up on the "parallels" in that article. But if you go back and reread, you see that we were actually talking about who's a bigger liar, Trump or Biden, not about policy comparisons.

And I'm sorry, but as far as credibility, there is no "parallel" between Trump and Biden.

I don't need to reread, but thanks for the suggestion. You can go back to discussing how much more of a liar trump is. Enjoy yourself.

Thanks, and I generally do enjoy myself...except when I finally realize I'm arguing semantics with someone.

Biden is our President and I stand behind him.............waaay behind him.
Better late than never, I suppose...

    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/ar...es-calls-East-Palestine-train-derailment.html

Biden phoned Ohio's Republican Gov. Mike DeWine, Democratic Sen. Sherrod Brown, Republican Rep. Bill Johnson, EPA Administrator Michael Regan and Pennsylvania's Democratic Gov. Josh Shapiro, the president tweeted.

The calls were made Tuesday evening from Warsaw, Poland, after the president gave his speech at the Warsaw Royal Castle Gardens ahead of the Ukraine war anniversary.

East Palestine's Mayor Trent Conaway said of Fox News Monday that it was the 'biggest slap in the face' for Biden to visit Kyiv, Ukraine before attending to the domestic disaster.

'Yeah, Presidents Day in our country. He's ... over in Ukraine,' Conaway said. 'So that tells you what kind of guy he is.'..........

Evidently according to some, a train derailment in Ohio where NO ONE was hurt, is somehow a more dire situation than Ukraine where many thousands have died and has global implications. (and no, I'm not implying that the train derailment is not an unfortunate event)

FWIW, the GOVERNOR of Ohio himself, didn't visit the Palestine accident site until YESTERDAY...why is there no outrage directed at him?

Well the governor is a Republican so not an outrage. Also president can't declare federal state of emergency until governor asks and the governor took his time.
And federal government reps have been there.
But it's an OUTRAGE I tell you and if you don't believe that just watch Fox. They wouldn't lie, would they?

If Biden doesn't run, which is the scuttlebutt that I've been hearing, Dems better get their ducks in a row. The fascists are already on the campaign trail.

I voted for Biden, but the disaster in Ohio is horrific. I haven't paid close enough attention to be honest with what has been done, and what should have been done, but I don't pretend that it is easy making decisions when you have so many different challenges competing for your limited bandwidth. It's not easy making those decisions, you have to weigh the performative aspect of being president and showing up in Ohio to appease the surface level deep constituents that want to SEE you doing something even if it is nothing more than showing up (IE Republicans), with actually something substantive with long term geopolitical consequences that can last for decades. It's not easy, as no matter what Biden does he will be criticized by Faux News and @Road Ratt and their ilk, and has to live with those challenge while actually attempting to do the right thing for the country. Sounds like a tough, but IMO fun job as nothing else would have that kind of intrigue and challenge.

    Speaking of hard core Republicans, wow, just wow;

GOP Rep. Barry Moore Wants AR-15 as "National Gun of America"

    https://www.newsweek.com/gop-rep-barry-moore-wants-ar-15-national-gun-america-1782885

Alabama Representative Barry Moore, a staunch gun-rights supporter, is proposing that the AR-15 rifle should be the "National Gun of America."

"The #SecondAmendment is as American a right as freedom of speech, religion, & the press," Moore wrote on Twitter Tuesday evening. "Today I unveiled my bill to make the AR-15 the National Gun of America. We must send a message that we will meet every attack on any of our constitutional rights."

Along with the tweet, Moore shared photos of himself speaking with a gun shop clerk. AL.com reported that the store is in Troy, Alabama.

Congressional records indicate that the bill was first introduced by Moore on Friday, but the House has not received the full text.

If Moore's proposal were to make it through both the GOP-controlled House and the Democratic-controlled Senate, the AR-15 would take its place beside some of the nation's most coveted symbols, such as the U.S. flag that was approved by Congress in 1777.

The AR-15, a popular semiautomatic rifle, is often used by "hunters, competitors, millions of Americans seeking home-defense guns and many others who simply enjoy going to the range," according to the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF).

Good post. In this case, I think it's a case here of why has it taken POTUS long to sincerely address this "horrific" event affecting "American" citizens. I mean, speaking of swings and misses attributed by some in here.

    https://www.independent.co.uk/news/...-southern-ohio-train-derailment-b2287085.html

It’s difficult to argue that Mr Biden has not been personally quiet concerning the ongoing situation in East Palestine; while his administration has responded with the deployment of federal agencies to the village and offerings of ongoing support, he only recently made a public statement addressing the disaster.

Since 3 February, the day the train derailed, Mr Biden has tweeted extensively about the war in Ukraine, met with Brazil’s president, boasted of accomplishments in employment, manufacturing, and infrastructure, given a State of the Union address, memorialised the University of Michigan mass shooting, offered condolences to the victims of the earthquake in Syria and Turkey, and congratulated the Kansas City Chiefs on their Super Bowl victory. He finally addressed the East Palestine situation on 21 February.

New Biden Rule Denounced as 'Trump's Asylum Ban Under a Different Name'

"Whether it's President Trump or President Biden, these asylum bans are illegal. The proposed rule should not move forward."

Biden seems to be crueler than Trump. Go figure.

I truly don't understand just what the people of East Palestine expect the president specifically to do for them. All applicable federal agencies are already involved. These are people who (in general) despise Biden (Let's Go Brandon) and want less government in their lives. But when shit happens, they're the first to stick their hands out and whine for federal intervention (while blaming that government for their woes). Obama pushed through regulations to make rail safety a priority. Trump promptly threw them out the window when he was installed as president because Republicans want less regulation and "interference" in their lives. Those people should be demanding action and financial recompense from the railroad, NOT from Joe Biden. If they want to blame the federal government, then blame administration after administration who gave the railroads a blank check and minimal regulation. The Average American Joe (or Jill) has absolutely NO clue whatsoever what type of potential disasters are being transported through their towns, cities and states via the railroads (and the trucking industry). It's a dirty little secret. What happened in East Palestine was long, long overdue........and like every other man made disaster we wont learn a frickin' thing.......it's not on Joe Biden. And sometimes the world's problems really DO require the attention of a US president more than the concerns of a small Ohio town that is already receiving federal help. And some people just want to bitch about everything under the sun because that is who they are and that is what they do..........

And as far as I am concerned, FEMA should only be used in the event of a natural disaster. Man made disasters should be the responsibility of the idiots who caused them to happen.......

Instead of simply copying and paste someone else's ideas, in your own words for a change, how about outlining what the POTUS visiting Palestine where again, NO ONE was hurt, should have done or should do, and how simply making an appearance actually helps the plight of those affected? These people don't need empty photo ops by the mayor, governor, and POTUS.

The area is being stabilized, decontaminated, etc., and until Norfolk Southern finishes the job there's not much anyone can do, except for you and others to lay blame where there is none.

Edit; I didn't see the post above mine until after I had posted my own.
