I took pictures of every angle of my car before I started walking. My best hope is Friday. Losing about $300 because of this.

But again, there's still positives cause I at least have heat and a home. I have insurance for the car so whatever happens those pieces of shit (insurance) I'll make sure they pay me.

Started work 8:30am, clocked out at 2:45am. This is why I hate snow. Terwilliger Curves was a shit show . Ended up finally making my way to Macadam while ice road trucking and then got onto Naito to the Broadway Bridge. The side roads in Portland aren’t bad. It’s the pack down snow that’s now ice on the highways that was awful.

Needless to say, I’m not going to be at work til Monday after that BS

Windstorm blew a tree down on the Bay Bridge. Massive traffic jam.

A friend went in to work in DT ... took her 7 hours to get back to Beaverton because of traffic on the freeways

I don't know how people are still surprised when the city shuts down during snow.

Simple rule if you don't work at home - if you see any snowflakes, get the fuck out. Don't wait. Snow = leave town.

Back in like 2016 I was working downtown and they were predicting snow. I told my boss that if I saw any snow I was leaving. He kinda laughed because I don't think he thought I was serious. He was originally from Argentina and had never experienced a Portland snow.

Sure enough, the snow started falling at noon and I told him I was out. I hopped on a Max before it started sticking and I was home before it started getting bad. He meanwhile spent six hours trying to get to NE Portland.

This city just doesn’t prepare for shit. Also, what’s crazy is the only emergency personnel I saw on the whole trek was some cops from Tigard passing by us. Despite numerous wrecks.

Anytime a good amount of snow arrives on a weekday it cripples the city.

Don't they not salt the roads which makes it worse?

We get weather events like this every 3-4 years, lasting for a day or two. So it wouldn't make a ton of financial sense to have a ton of equipment that sits unused for years at a time.

More importantly, because of the Columbia gorge and we sit where 2 rivers meet, predicting weather in situations like this is very difficult. Yesterday morning all of the local news channels were saying the computer models showed snow starting anywhere from 3pm to 6pm. They also said some areas would get a trace and some could see inches.

My stepdaughter was at the expo center yesterday leading a group of students around a career fair, the local branch of the National Weather Service at around 2pm updated their forecast and said snow was coming at 3pm. We texted her and she got her students back to their school and was home in SE Portland by 3:20pm.

    The information was out there.

So first of all, why would ANYONE fly Southwest after what happened just a month or so ago?

Second.... people don't pay attention to weather reports, I guess?
