You'll have to read some of the thread. Let me know when you get to the gem that someone (I won't use their name to embarrass them) thought Stotts was holding Derrick Jones Jr back. Multiple seasons later, with different coaching and more experience, he's basically the same player. Lots of reaching and bad assumptions in those two threads and that's just the tip of the iceburg
I was asked to pull out examples and those were the first two the came up. If Orion Bailey wants me on his YouTube show, I'm sure he'll ask me. Bones hasn't even paid off his bet with me, so I doubt he'd want me on his show. Just because someone has a YouTube channel, doesn't mean their bad-takes are above being called out. In fact, it's probably good for those with the greatest reach to be held accountable for spreading bad info.
After further thought we just suck. From ownership on down the line. Thankfully we got Lillard otherwise we’d be the laughingstock of the league. Jokes on him I guess.
I never said he was holding him back. I said he was misusing him. He's not a shooter. He stuck him in the corner. Somehow.... we seem to be using Shaedon Sharpe in much the same way that we should have been using DJJ. If Stotts was coaching this team, Sharpe would A) not be playing at all and B) be stuck in the corner to wait for the ball.
I'm not sure your assumptions are accurate. Stotts showed a willingness to play top 10 picks as rookies. CJ being the one exception, as he was hurt. Stotts even played rookie, Meyers Leonard 18mpg (only 2 less than Sharpe) and Zach Collins 16mpg despite Sharpe obviously being more talented and having the benefit of guys like Dame, Ant, Nas, Winslow, etc missing games and opening up minutes for him. Many feel Sharpe is a future all-star, but when Stotts was given a future all-star, he played him 39mpg as a rookie. So this seems to be another one of those misleading and simplified narratives that were used to attempt to justify getting rid of a coach who over-acheived given the talent he had. Him not giving major run to late 1st or 2nd round picks who turned out to be journeyman in the league might've been a sign that he recognized those players ceilings much quicker than the casuals on here begging for players like Weynen Gaberiel to get more run.
Already moving the goalposts to 2nd year players? That was fast. So CJ played the backup minutes to a guy who got a max contract the next season? Oh, and on a team that won 50+ games? Man, that was so much worse than playing Sharpe 20 minutes on a team that might be the play-in game. You're grasping at this point.
For starters Ant is doing a very poor job of proving those who said he was as good as/better than CJ wrong. A young, inexperienced player which translates into an inconsistent player.
Who is who? Or is is it whom? mpg 35.2 35.3 fg% .436 .448 3pt% .384 .378 efg% .520 .550 ppg 20.5 21.1 PER 15.8 15.0 Obpm 1.8 1.4 Dbpm -1.7 -2.3 fairly equal across the board
Not trying to butt in but want to clear a couple things up. In no way is Orion Bailey affiliated with BlazersUprise, other than he is a big fan and a patreon contributor. @hoopsjock and @BonesJones are the geniuses behind that. That is all. Thanks.
Well you said that he missed most of his rookie season because of an injury, so wasn't his second season really his rookie season?
I just have to quote Yoda (and alter it a bit) "Tired are you? What know you of disappointment? For forty eight years have I been a Blazer fan. My own counsel will I keep on what makes a good fan. A fan must have the deepest commitment, the most patient mind. This fanbase, a long time have I watched. All their life have they looked away... to the future, to the horizon. Never their mind on where they were. Hmm? What they are currently doing. Hmph! Future daft picks. Heh! Championships. Heh! A fan craves not these things but rather enjoys the now!. You are reckless!
Ok. So his second season he played 15 mpg, behind a guy about the get a max contract, on a team that won 51 games. Oh, and CJ turned out ok; doesn't appear playing 15 mintues vs 20 really stunted him as a player. What's the issue here?
That's a lot of conjecture from a statement that I made that Stotts wouldn't play Shaedon. You're really great at mind reading, sir.
