Hypothetical, if we end up with the 3rd pick would you package that in a deal for someone in the KAT range or keep the pick?
good question and it may become very relevant. I think KAT is one of the few all-star level guys that could be available. Derozan? Butler?
Tied for 6th place which would give the Blazers a 37% chance of jumping into the Top 4. That is an asset that could really help.
I'm not sure anymore. Watching what I've seen in the last few weeks, I don't think anything short of a generational talent falling into the Blazers' lap is enough to even be a winning team.
i don't think it's much of a hindrance. we can always make a pick for the team we trade it to if we do. i also think this calculus changes once the NY pick conveys into our possession officially also once the Knicks get into the playoffs
So the good news is that it doesn’t appear that we actually need to tank in order to have a shot at Wemby. Just let our coach do his thing
No!! We would have to include salaries to match that. Brandon miller is gonna be better than KAT by year 3 and actually play winning basketball
This probably deserves it own thread. At what point in the draft is the potential drafted player less valuable than a player like OG or KAT?
depends on the player but it sure the the fuck wouldn't be KAT; looks at his contract(s): he's not anywhere close to the zip-code of being worth that my take: if Portland had the 3rd pick they still wouldn't have the leverage to trade for a good enough player to warrant losing the pick. Ant & Nurkic don't have much value as tradable contracts meaning the Blazers would have to add a lot more draft capital. And the Blazers would be stupid to mortgage their future for a player like Siakam keep the pick because there is no quick fix for the decade of mismanagement by Olshey
if the Knicks are in the playoffs, Portland could trade their own pick because they'd still have a first and not violate the Septien Rule
