We could but I don't think we will beat either Utah or Chicago. That's the amount of games Dame said he wants to see where things are before he made any decisions about the direction things will take for the rest of the season. It also happens to be his 57th and 58th games of the season which I think you're right would make him eligible for post season recognition as far as numbers go. I don't think there are parameters on who can and can't be on all nba teams but I do think the press that votes on that stuff looks at the lists of numbers that you're only on if you play 58 or more games.
I want 15-17 shots a game for Sharpe in the near term and I want him running actions with Nurkic. Make it happen Mr. Billups.
Imagine if we actually won the lottery and got Wemby Bros Unfortunate but this may be the best we can hope for at this point. The play in seems unlikely after dropping our last few games.
Loss column matters when you're looking at going up in the standings; win column when you want to go down-- in either situation, it's what you need the other team to get more of. I haven't looked into it, but I thought the coin flip only settled draft position after the lottery. I'm pretty sure tied teams just get identical lottery odds.
Time. To. Pack. It. In. Game of chess. Lol. “What does a game of tanking look like” is more accurate.
Your analyzing this too much as if the teams are fighting for the playoffs, they are not. When looking at teams losing, their wins to date are what matters most, not losses. The Blazers are 2 wins ahead of Orlando, but since they play each other if the Blazers lose out they are only one Orlando win behind. So the Blazers need one Orlando win to control their destiny for a tie of the 5th/6th draft spot. Two Orlando wins and the Blazers outright control their destiny for sole place of the 5th draft spot. I never said head 2 head tiebreakers matter; for the lottery the teams would split all the balls evenly for the 5th/6th spot and a coin flip to determine who drafts first if neither team jumps into the top4.
thanks for clarifications I'm not sure what this means though: "The Blazers are 2 wins ahead of Orlando, but since they play each other if the Blazers lose out they are only one Orlando win behind" if the Blazers lose out and Orlando wins one of their 10 remaining games, Blazers are not tied for 5th; Orlando would be 30-52, Blazers 31-51. I must be missing your logic there
You know, NBA conspiracies can be fun...but also maddening. For example, if the NBA had to pick (of the teams in the lotto) a team for VW to go to, wouldn't you think it'd be the Spurs? Model franchise, stable history and strong fan support. But if the league wanted VW to go to a city/team where they'd know he'd be around a solid pro who hasn't once let the league down and is a model player, it'd be Portland and being around Damian. That said, I bet the #1 pick is going to Charlotte or Houston. OR it'll be like when Cleveland got like 3 #1 picks in 4 years, and they'll give it to New Orleans to make up for Zion being injury prone. (as if Portland knows nothing about that) Spoiler I'm not really being that serious
it's funny how narratives change. I remember for the first couple months of the season people talking about how the Pelicans had a good shot at using the Laker's pick to land VW because of the pick swap they owned. But as of today, the lakers pick is worse than the Pels pick and the Pels could lose that pick swap for good. And if the lakers have a healthy season next year, the Pels might only be getting a 1st in the 20's. New Orleans might not get nearly as much for the AD trade as people originally assumed
Typo on my part. The emphasis on the M in his last name, WeMbyamo (or whatever his name is), was brain farting me.
If the Blazers draft him, he'll be "Virtual Man" as he suffers from foot/let injuries for several years before fans and management finally give up on him.
Is this another draft where there is a top 3 and after that, the next tier of players is a step below? Who are the top 7 we are hoping for? (On paper I am intrigued with Jarace Walker, but I have yet to see him play except for a few highlights) https://www.tankathon.com/big_board
If we don't get Wemby, I'm thinking GG Jackson. Great size, great athleticism, great defense, incredible potential. https://www.nbadraft.net/players/gg-jackson/
