This eliminates even the faint hope that Portland might get him back somehow. If Portland really wants to build a championship team around Lillard, then you never give up a crucial piece like Josh Hart. Of course maybe he told them he would like to sign this summer with a team like New York before the trade? Although reading this it seems he just wanted a place where he was valued and would like living there. Surely that could have been Portland?
New York is 12-4 since acquiring Josh Hart, who told Andscape that he hopes to sign a long-term deal with the Knicks. His wife is on board with that decision, too. “I want bigger things for my wife and myself,” Hart said. “Just find a home somewhere where we are valued and really like living there. And I think that can be New York. I would love for it to be New York and hopefully the organization feels the same way. Coming up, this contract is hopefully my biggest one, one where I’m making sure my family’s fully taken care of. So, I’ve also got to take that into account, too.”

Reading further, it appears he never planned on being permanently on the West Coast, so it seems Cronin did a great job getting good assets for someone we would lose anyway.
“Portland was good, but it was just so far and I’m not from the West Coast,” Hart recently told Andscape. “It was tough. Not on me, but more so on my wife because she’s not a huge fan of flying. So, she’s all the way in the Pacific Northwest, not really flying, just by herself. That was one of the things that was weighing on me a little bit, just seeing her struggle with that. So, me being gone but being close to home, it’s been great.”

It was a good article. I'm very happy for Hart and his wife. I miss Josh on our team, but it's obvious, from the article, that being on the East Coast is best for them going forward. Being close to family is important, especially when you have kids. You can't put a price on the support they'll have there. That being said, i'm disapointed because i was really hoping for a reunion in FA this offseason. Bummer. But Blessings to the Harts going forward.

Hart wants the best offer to come from New York.
If it doesn't, he'll go somewhere else.

    yeah

I hated to see Portland lose Hart, but I suspected the Blazers had a real good handle on their likelihood of re-signing Hart....and it was almost certainly not going to happen

getting Reddish, Thybulle, and a 1st is a pretty good return, even with Reddish falling off dramatically over the last half-dozen games

Interesting to note that in the last half dozen games he's scored decently, just shot atrociously. But the Knicks game and the Clipper game tanked his scoring averaged (2 points).

Reddish's performance versus the Knicks was very disappointing. Almost sheepish. I'm done with guys who have motors that come and go. Harkless, Whiteside, and i'm beginning to think Nurk, run too hot or cold. We need players with engines that purr.

Huh?? The guy is making 11 million or so a year? And has been playing awhile and his family still hasn't been taken care of???? That's on him. One year at 11 million dollars would take care of my family into the next two or three generations. These guys are friggin' clueless. And why I can't get too high or too low about sports anymore......

Nah, it's always been interesting to see how the money impacts these guys.
You know how many times I will run to Subway or Chipotle to get dinner....in the lobby, elevator opens for me to go up, and it's a bunch of players heading out. I ALWAYS get cracked on. I have to remind them that I'm ballin' on a different type of budget.

I'm not counting HIS money so much as I'm counting MY money. In the end, who do you think is paying his salary? I can't afford to go to a game except for maybe once in a blue moon, especially with concessions, swag, etc thrown in.. I'm paying for cable TV, which helps pay the player's salaries. There are way too many have nots in the world for these guys to be acting like an extra million or two is some kind of chump change. I dopn't begrudge them the money, but I DO begrudge their cavalier attitudes towards it.

Josh is a really high strung guy...very east coast..I think he's at home around the chaos of NYC as opposed to the serenity of Oregon's lakes and rivers. Sounds like his wife is too. I know a lot of people who can't live on the west coast or Hawaii due to the pace of life being slower here. Choices..
