Trading the pick for proven talent is who else is on my list. I really think Miller could be great, Scoot is obviously really good and even the twins are extremely promising but Wemby is the only reason why we would take a player who wouldn't be bringing their most impactful seasons while Dame is still one of the biggest beasts in the game. Tons of teams would give up a ready to go all star/all nba guy to get their hands on one of those guys or later guys along with Ant and Nurk and future picks.

Magic had a 5-20 start but since then, they’ve played like a playoff team at 25-23. They’ll prob win half of their remaining games.

I wonder, much like I do with Oden, if his injuries are a symptom of the time as much as the man?

I don't recall the story behind Ralphs injuries, I think he slipped and hurt his knee? And probably came back too quick (he even admitted as much). And with Oden, I wonder if his surgeries were really necessary and instead of being the "catch all be all" fix that has all but disappeared from the sports world.

Bowie and Walton had bone issues, iirc, but I think both might have been rushed back into service.

Look at Zydrunas Ilgauskas used to play for the Cavs. Had foot issues the first years of his career, but from age 26-35 was pretty consistent on the court.

Look at Geoff Petrie, he played only 6 seasons and had to retire early. I wonder if he had been born 30 years later, that his career might've been much longer.

I realized Petrie isn't a C, but I brought him up to compare how different times were back in the past, even as recent as 15 years ago.

Unless they do what we're doing and start pulling the guys that could get them the wins. I don't know why they would let us out tank them but their roster is a little deeper with young talent so they may pull their better guys and still fuck up and win a few more games... we won't have that problem.

Tonight is the only game that worries me but Vegas has them as solid favorites to win -200 and a 4.5 point spread. The fact that they're only paying one dollar on every two dollars bet on the Jazz on the money line is a pretty strong endorsement from the bookies because they obviously are not incentivizing a bet on the Jazz winning.

Anyone remember Shawn Bradley? While he's had a tragic accident (bicycling, of all things) since retiring, he was able to move pretty well on the court despite being a stick and about VW's height. Of course, he SUCKED (although he blocked a lot of shots), but he didn't end up like Oden. VW is like Kevin Durant crossed with Shawn Bradley.

Embiid missed his first two seasons and only played 37 in his third. Now he may win MVP.

Are they being pulled or are they hurt? If they’re just being pulled, why is Dame playing?

I’m pretty sure Dame is playing to make sure his stats show up on the end of the year lists, so he has a better chance of being recognized for his excellence. Or maybe he’s just stubborn and it’s taking him a little bit of time to come to grips with the fact that this season has been the best he’s played but was ultimately wasted on a team that never had a chance.

I disagree that they never had a chance. This roster, even with injuries, and with a weak conference, should’ve won half their games. And Dame as leader of the team should take some of the flack for it. 31-40 is unacceptable.

I should let you know when VW kicks a guys ass who has been dead for 50 years or in a movie with a 75 year old has-been action star? Wat???

& I don't see much body equivalence in your comparisons other then they're tall... okay Bradley (who reportedly didn't really like hoops or working out) holds a little. Regardless this conversation is too stupid for me to continue

Really impressed with 37+ minutes from Shaedon and only 1 turnover!

Certainly medical options/expertise have evolved dramatically over the past decades. I've heard Rick Barry bemoan how a knee injury he suffered early in his career & dogged his athleticism/ability throughout would have been a routine arthroscopy surgery by the 80s. Hoops is a rough game on the body. Not everyone is put together well enough to take the pounding of running and jumping on hardwood & of course a single bad luck moment like coming down on someone's foot or getting hit on the side of the knee could dramatically change the course of a player's career. The bad luck portion of this could happen to any player in any game and isn't related to body type, height or musculature. How a prospect is put together is what I'm concerned with. If they have flat feet, a wonky spine or some other structural issue, their career is much more likely to be injury plagued and shortened. These sorts of things are pretty much impossible for fans to assess by watching games but they are absolutely what I expect a competent franchise to red flag.

odds for #1 went from 9% to 7.5%. Odds for top-4 went from 37% to 32%

not a drastic drop-off from #6 to #7. But there is a large drop-off from #6 to #8. Time to sit Dame & blatantly tank, IMO. All the other teams around Portland will be doing that in one fashion or another

Yeah..... I love that Shaedon balled out, but getting wins right now is not good.

Dude, we're playing Trendon Watford and Eubanks 20+ minutes per night.
Watford is 6'8 and all he can do is layups and 15ft floaters...
    31-40 is about right.
