I felt that using our highest pick was important for the overall future of the team. And using the other was important for helping Dame win now.
Do we try that again this year? A case can be made either way. Of course, it will come down to who is available in a trade or in the draft.

That was my dream draft when Duren and Sochan were both projected late lottery, trading down to nab both. As it turned out, Sochan's stock shot up and we would have had to overreach to get him, but Duren dropped and was very undervalued on draft day.

I can't be too unhappy with how little it ended up taking to acquire Grant, but having Duren for the same price sure would have been nice.

If Grant leaves for nothing, I think we will have massive buyers remorse about not drafting Duren.

    Ahem.

Nothing being discussed here now has anything to do with Sharpe doing some crazy shit.

    Quit teasing…

It's a trade thread now. Some draft conversation.
It will stay that way until at least Thursday.

Of course, but that's a calculated risk. You know what you say, you are not going to win any of the chances you do not take...

To me, winning now means at least some sort of claim of contending & last offseason I viewed the team as more then a borderline AS forward away from that. I like/liked Grant and have advocated for his abilities in many threads. At the same time I pointed to the lack of talent and Dame's timeline. Last offseason there was no reasonable path forward to winning now in 2022-23. Other then winning the draft lotto, I don't see them winning now next year either. If they draft and develop really well the next couple seasons & Dame stays healthy, maybe they're reaching contender status by 2024-25. At that point Shaedon and Duren would be 21 while Grant 31.

Last oddseason was a time to plant seed(s) for the future... I was for a roster overhaul including painful decisions for the 2022-3 team like not resigning Nurk. If they hadn't, and they'd have moved the Milwaukee 2024 1st for Duren, they could have conceivable used the Nurk savings to sign UFA Jerimi Grant this next offseason! I view this next offseason as best served with future moves as well... draft capitol should be spent on the draft not on 30-somethings. If I was calling the shots, the 2024 offseason is when I'd hope to be in position to push the chips to the middle on win now moves.

He looked so much more confident last night.

Nice article from Sean Highkin about Sharpe.

"He's playing so much harder now than he was early in the season," Billups said. "And I think it was mostly just being familiar. Now, he knows where the rotations are supposed to be, so he can rotate harder. Whereas early on, he's not rotating as fast, because he's confused about where he's supposed to go. He's understanding better, which I think has picked up his confidence."

What was funny on that dunk last night was Nurk's reaction as he was running down the court watching.

He airguitared the dunk as if he was doing it himself. Complete with the highest vertical ive seen him get to since he broke his leg!
    It was awesome!

I legitimately can not wait for Portland to trade this future star this off season for a borderline all star big so Dame can make it to the first round. This place will lose its collective shit…rightfully so

OK, you're giving off mixed signals here. My conclusion is that you love the Blazers but you love watching Blazer fans suffer more.

Got to say that Sharpe still hasn't convinced me. Love the dunks but can he play? Getting serious Andrew Wiggins before he learned how to play a bit of defense vibes - very good shooter, amazing leaper, not really a basketball player.

I'd certainly trade him if it brought back the right player, but trouble is the right player wouldn't be available (see the trade I suggested at the start of the season of Anfernee and Sharpe for SGA that everyone on this board hated but that would've been an amazing slam dunk - which is why it never had a chance.)

I honestly think that Joe's plan is to put together a package of Ant, Nurk and multiple firsts for an all star to put with Dame, Shae and Jerami. I think the plan is to build around these three guys. I'd be shocked if we included Shae and our first rounder unless we were getting back a superstar entering their prime... I guess we'll see.
