IIRC, the Pels pick would have been #13. Duren would have been available. But the Blazers would not have had Milwaukee's pick. I'd think there was just too much momentum behind getting Grant so my hunch is that would have been what Portland sent to Detroit
July 6, 2022: Traded by the Detroit Pistons with Ismael Kamagate to the Portland Trail Blazers for Gabriele Procida, a 2025 1st round draft pick ( was later selected), a 2025 2nd round draft pick ( was later selected) and a 2026 2nd round draft pick ( was later selected). Detroit also received a trade exception conditional 2025 1st-rd pick is MIL own 2025 2nd-rd pick is DET own 2026 2nd-rd pick is more favorable
Yes, we used the TPE, which was a big part of the trade from DET's perspective. Had we gotten the NOP pick, could we have traded another first instead (also making a deal with Chicago so that we could) while also selecting Duren? Perhaps, but the reason we couldn't select Duren was because we never got that 2022 pick. Am I making sense?
I'm not sure. Let me clarify what my thought was and then you can tell me if my wires are crossed. Instead of trading for Grant, we send the Milwaukee pick and the TPE to NYK for Duren and whoever else the Knicks want to dump that fit into that TPE.
Ah, I see, I see. Our TPE wouldn't have been big enough, but perhaps we could have also attached some additional salary flotsam to make it work? I don't know though, Detroit absorbed like $27 million.
NY was intent on clearing cap space to sign Brunson. So any added salary we sent would have had to o to a 3rd team.
Good view...I have just a couple of comments. Knox is the kind of "long" depth that this bench needs. Mays has BB smarts that showed these last few games....good depth. Undervalue on Drew. Who could the team get that will outwork him at his price? Butler just started to show some gumption. Hard to teach 7'. Hard to tell with Cam. High ceiling, will he achieve it? Winslow is missing an ability.....availability. Watford got better and he works his ass off. He has replaced some of what we lost in Hart. Love Mathreece, but not sure if there is more than what we saw. Little has game, not able to throw the switch at will.
Yeah I didn't think about that. My smooth brain seemed to only really remember that they had gotten Duren for our shitty pick and it made me wish that we had just gotten Duren. I forgot there was all that other stuff going on.
If somehow Spoelstra gets fired we’d better go get him immediately. If any player doesn’t like it, they can fuck the hell off
Miami is going to be open to trading a lot of different players... so that's the first team with a couple of guys that would make us better to definitely underperform.
