Half a game and you're willing to say what he will and will not be able to do. That's a real talent. If you watch more games he is dominant in the pain, dominant. He can get around or over anyone offensively and defensively it doesn't matter how close someone who posts him up can get to the hoop, they still can't get their shot off against him. So you're right that he does well on the perimeter but he rebounds and protects the rim better than anyone I've seen in years because of his lenght, athleticism and timing.

I'm just saying what I saw.

Maybe he was having a bad game. It looked like (I can't speak French) he had to sit early in the first with two fouls and got his third before halftime. I definitely will not complain if we get him. Lord knows he has oodles of skill and talent. I just worry he's too clever for his own good at the moment.

Maybe, maybe not. I'm literally just talking about vibes. My hope is Dirk Nowitzki with Hakeem's post up game lol but who the fuck knows what'll happen out there.

He's got a way better handle. And think he is lighter on his feet to be able to move laterally on switches. Also allows him to be more nimble with his footwork in the post

I suggest you watch more. Check him out vs Chet in the U19 finals. His most complete game and he was just 17 at the time. And he's improved loads from then.

His ability and willingness to close ground coming out of the paint on shooters was the thing that impressed me the most, among myriad other things.

Once he figures out the nuances of NBA physicality (which frankly isn't that different from his French league) and stays out of foul trouble, he's a perennial DPOY candidate.

This is what makes him so dangerous. He is like Evan Mobely on defense with KD-esque offense.

Do we really want the PNW to be overran by baguettes, croissants, and escargot?

Yeah, but we could just ask @SlyPokerDog to get a bath more than once a year. That fur is pretty rank.

That tall French guy puts in a lot of work and preparation. I always like to see that in a franchise type player.

Not that ping pong balls care, but our boy Schmitz is close with Victor and his family going back to when he was like 15/16 and just popping onto people’s radars.

JoeCro has been getting young players almost exclusively, so the writing is on the wall -I know what will happen.

    /start
    Blazers trade Dame for Wemby.
Wemby, Grant, pick 7, Ant, Sharp make an exciting young team.
Wemby, a Blazers big man, gets severely injured after 1 year.
Blazers limp along for a few years.
    /restart
Blazers trade Sharp for an exciting young big man....

Just part of the cycle of being a Blazers fan.

I don't think many, if any, teams would trade Wemby for Dame. Dame is 32 and getting PAID. Any team getting the number 1 this year is going to need more than Dame to be a factor (see: Portland).

That does raise an interesting question though--which lotto teams (presumably ones with worse odds than ours) would be interested in trading a package including an unexpected top-4 pick for Dame?
