I could live with this list although I might prefer Brian Grant over Drexler if personality were a factor...I'm also a big Sheed fan. Top ten would be emuch easier but I loved Rod Strickland and Sabonis playing together. started following around 76....69 years old in a couple of months.
I wasn't born yet but three of my favorites are Wicks, Lucas, and Walton. Watched back games they were in. Just they way they played the game and what they brought. I started watching in 1990. My fave 5 from teams I actually watched live are: Dame Kersey Grant Sheed Duckworth
I was 12 when the Blazers won it all. RIP City and Blazer Mania were born. I played basketball at Capital Hill Elementary. My buddy was related somehow to Bobby Gross and we went to Lloyd Neals house a few times. I still have an autographed shoe from him and Bobby. Nike of Course. I also played baseball at Alpenrose back then. My pops was from Ohio so i was Reds fan and i was also a Cowboys fan. Don't ask, not sure. Think it was Tony Dorsett. Life was fantastic being a kid in Portland Oregon. I was a half a mile from Marshall Park and i had three albums. Grease, Frampton Comes Alive and KISS Alive The Golden years. So in a nutshell, i go way back. I loved Lionel Hollins, Maurice Lucas, Dave Twardzik, Bobby Gross, Larry Steele, Bill Walton. Hell, i even liked Tom Owens. My favorite players of all time are as follows: Lionel Hollins Brian Grant Rasheed Wallace Buck Williams Terry Porter Jerome Kersey Brandon Roy Dame Dolla Arvydas Sabonis Drazen Petrovic Clifford Robinson Ron Brewer Johnny Davis Harvey Grant Lafayette Lever Maurice Lucas Wesley Matthews CJ McCollum Ruben Patterson Jim Paxson Geoff Petrie Bobby Gross Larry Steele Zach Randolph Steve Smith Myhal Thompson Dave Twardzik Sidney Wicks Darnell Valentine Drexler used to be my favorite player and i used to love Aldridge as well. They aren't on the list. May get back in some day
It's cool you go by Ron Brewer. One of the Three Basketeers out of Arkansas, along with Marvin Delph, and the great Sidney Moncrief. I loved watching Ron. That sweet, smooth one handed jumper & floater. To me, one of the most underrated Blazers in team history. Never felt the fan base appreciated how good he was.
My first fave was Terry Porter. I am a little disappointed by the rumors that I've heard about him as a coach, but he was always my fave player of the Clyde era. Arvydas Sabonis may be the greatest player to have worn only a Blazers jersey his entire NBA career. (Dame's career isn't over yet and Roy had that unfortunate Timberwolves coda.) He may also be the best passer in Blazers history - certainly better than anyone we've had since. I did love Sheed, although loving both him and Sabas was hard after the towel incident. He has aged like fine wine, though. Since then, there have been few players whose trade would have had me threatening to stop being a fan. I did love Batum, but he was maddeningly inconsistent, and that one 5 x 5 was a huge tease. The fact that he's still in the NBA and second only to Kawhi Leonard in total +/- for the Clips shows that he's cut from the same cloth as Boris Diaw. I guess I would say Dame has given me more moments of joy than any Blazer of at least the past couple of decades, but I really wish he could've learned to play defense at some point. That's what separates the Jimmy Butlers from the Devin Bookers. Cult heroes: Uncle Cliffy, Robert Pack, Alvin Williams, Viktor Khryapa, Petteri Koponen, Andre Miller, Josh Hart. I bet I could've fallen in love with Joe Ingles if given the chance. Fuck Pau Gasol, though - I don't care if he's a nice guy.
