You might eventually be right, but the problem is I doubt we agree to a trade until close to draft time. I guess teams sometimes complete deals early. I think we did the Telfair trade to Boston for the Roy pick a week or two before the draft?
What! You act like the dude committed crimes against humanity. B Roy was amazing. A great Blazers. Count me, among many, who love Brandon.
I can't imagine they would be on bad terms as both Roy and the Blazers had to agree to this. Doesn't mean he will become more active with the Blazers, but I would suspect there is a chance he might.
Just looked up the Roy pick - so it was first the #7 pick that Boston used to select Randy Foye - and traded to the Blazers with Raef LaFrentz and Dan Dickau. Blazers sent the Celtics Theo Ratliff, Telfair, and a 2nd round pick. BB RReference shows all these draft trades as completed on June 28, 2006 - so I'd imagine all these trades were agreed to within 24 hours of or during the draft. Its nuts that the Celtics traded the lottery pick #7 for Telfair with his 9.5 ppg as a sophmore at 39% FG% on a 21 win team; and a year salary relief of LaFrentz contract. Not very exciting value at all if thats the type of return we get for the Blazers lottery pick this year. I still think Ainge was a great GM, but he had some major blunders as well. The Blazers then traded the Randy Foye pick #7 for Roy at #6 who the TWolves had selected. The TWolves were rumored to have made the pick of Roy at #6 with plans to swap him for Houston taking Foye at #8. But the Blazers then grabbed Foye at #7 to force the TWolves to send Roy to the Blazers.
Cissoko and Rupert are routinely mocked above him, but Bilal Coulibaly is easily the best French prospect for me and probably above Lively if we keep the Knicks pick and both are there. Cissoko is a good passer that can't dribble or score really and moves like a big. Stiff Marvin Williams/Stanley Johnson vibes in that respect. Movement hurts him defensively. Gets beat a lot but has decent recovery steps and the strength and length to not be completely out of the play. Lacks quite a bit of discipline and activity defensively. Rupert has insane length but knocked kneed, big feet and just kind of lopes around. Little bigger than Exum but I think he'll run into a lot of the same issues defensively. Question marks everywhere offensively. Coulibably is the best overall athlete of the 3. Really fluid and rangy. Comfortable with the ball and has pretty powerful strides getting into the lane. Pairs that with really nice passing flashes, especially as an interior passer. Awesome laydown passer and has good placement and touch on passes to the roll man. Good both on and off the ball defensively. Has the flexibility to navigate screens well at 6'6" and the length to be disruptive. Rotates well to protect the rim. I expect his standing reach to measure out really well. Can really stretch out and play big. Definitely a time and space shooter right now. Very shaky if he has to speed up his mechanics at all. Settles a bit too much for pull ups that he's not good at right now. Wouldn't bet on it, but there's a world that he turns out better than the Thompson twins tbh. The profile looks pretty similar. The strengths aren't as strong, especially athletically, but I think the jumper is more workable and might have a bit more talent with the ball, at least more than Amen.
Agreed. I really like Bilal. I think he will be a solid starter-level player for a long time. My only concern is he seems a bit passive. In what I have seen of his play - he leaves you wanting to see more from him...
If we get lucky and draft Wembanyama would you trade him for Giannis? I know much more would have to be involved.
Yes. I don't think Nurk and parts can get to enough salary to match Giannis contract, so might have to be Ant, Nurk and Wemby. So we're left with; Dame Sharpe Grant Giannis ? Yeah I do that. Would be great if we could throw in Reddish, Knox and some other parts to keep Ant but maybe thats getting greedy. Not sure if there is anyone else in the league I would though. I would not do that for Embiid, too much injury history. No for Luka as I don't think him and Dame could contend. Probably no for Jokic although a part of me would love to see Nurk have to back him up again lol.
Leonard Miller was someone D69 found last year and even though he thought he should go back to school or go to college (he went to the G-League), he thought he had serious potential. Fast forward a year and he started out as a mid 2nd round pick, has jumped up into the mid to late 1st round, and some scouts are saying that by the end of the combine and workouts, he will be a Lottery pick. A guest on Raphael Barlow's show said he might go as high as #10/11. That really isn't in Portland's range, but it's interesting to see how far he has come up in just the last part of the year. He had some MONSTER G-League games playing with Scoot on the Ignite.
I have him rated as the #8 best prospect in this draft. Definitely unconventional (which I understand turns some people off) but I think he has a good chance (~25%) to become better than Siakam
Alexander: Alexander is a solid and fundamentally sound lead guard with a good frame and an efficient game. He’s an excellent shooter when given space and hits a very high percentage from the line. At 6-4 he’s got the size you look for in a lead guard. He’s a very stout defender and can hold his own against 1’s and 2’s. Alexander plays more of a slow-paced game, making good decisions. One point guard who is a "stout defender", the rest seem to be 3 and D type guys although the guy who will probably go highest is very athletic but not a good shooter, Dillon Mitchell. "With perhaps the most bounce of any player in this class, Mitchell is the type of prospect that is a walking highlight reel. He legitimately jumps so high that his head is at or above the rim on a regular basis. A versatile prospect, Mitchell should play quite a bit on the wing at the next level, but also is strong enough to hold his own as an undersized power forward. The Texas freshman thrives in transition where he’s nearly impossible to stop with a single defender. Mitchell is an elite finisher that shoots a high percentage due to the quality shots he takes. In fact, most of his shot attempts take place in the paint. While he’s an improved shooter in the midrange, Mitchell has a lot of work to do with his jumper. That’s his swing skill moving forward, but as of now he’s not a 3-point shooting threat. He attempted zero shots from beyond the arc his freshman season." https://www.si.com/nba/draft/prospe...ll#gid=ci02b16aaf800126b1&pid=usatsi_19508591
