Barkley was the MVP in 1993, and if we hadn't been stupid we'd have won the title with him. Idiots.

I would also trade @THE HCP for the last pick in the 2nd round.

Danny Ainge would do that deal. He likes dealing with Lakers.

Nope. The trade was around the 1992 trade deadline. We hadn’t lost to Chicago yet.

NOW in hindsight. I’m asking about fans following the team THEN. Kersey was extremely popular and that team was incredible. I don’t think most people were in favor of breaking it up.

Houston wasn’t “entering a window of contention.,” lol. They were about to get lucky Jordan would retire. You clearly weren’t alive then.

We wouldn’t have beaten the Bulls. That year was Jordan and Phil Jackson at their best.

There was a rumor that the Spurs offered us Tim Duncan for the 1st pick in the Oden/Durant draft.

Houston won 55 games, won their division and went to the semis the year before they won the title in 94. Please learn the game, then post.

I thought the comment was about Houston in 92?

What’s sad is I think Duncan played like 5 times as many games as Oden did after that draft, despite being about 5 times as old at that point.

Plus only two healthy years from Roy. That first year even with Duncan in place of Odens DNP rookie year the Blazers were too young and inexperienced.

Although the second yeah the Blazers won 54 games eventually losing to Yao Ming's Rockets in 6 games. Put Duncan in place of Oden they likely win that series plus maybe more.

But then the next season Roy got injured, rushed back for the Phoenix series, and was never the same player again.

Two years later the Blazers drafted Lillard.

Did the Blazers enter a window of contention in 2019? I know all of that. Houston had actually already BEEN to the Finals. They were a great team all decade. There was no “entering a window of contention.” No one thought of them as having a chance at the title while MJ was winning three straight. The only window they had was him retiring. But people didn’t talk like that then.
