The convo should be Scoot vs Amen.

Probably wouldn't have won a title with CP3... How many titles has he won?

And from what I recall, CP3 was much more highly regarded than Martell was.

Agreed. I actually like Amen more than Scoot, but Scoot has an “it” factor about him.

A few things that concern me about Scoot:
    - Ranked 425 out of 464 total players Defense Rating in G League (118.4).
    - He had a 14.7 PER in the G-League.
    - Henderson's G-League Ingnite team won 11 and lost 21 (0.344) in the 2022-23 season, even when paired with some solid talent like Leonard Miller.

Yes, his highlights are fun to watch. But his stats certainly have some red-flags.

I'd prefer Amen Thompson or Taylor Hendricks.

he reminds me a lot of DWade/Westbrook. Wade/Westbrook werent great 3 point shooters but still top 75 all time NBA players. His shot doesn’t look bad and guessing he should continue to improve. Kid seems to have that “it” factor. I think Charlotte will see same thing and take him

Think Scoot over Miller is a no brainer to me at this point. Love his power and tenacity. I don't think there's any real reason for Charlotte to pass on him.

Charlotte just saw a Brandon Miller-type player (Keegan Murray) help his team get to the playoffs for the first time in 17 years.
They think Miller is a much better fit to play with LaMelo Ball (whom they value much more than anyone else).
They think their team is closer to being a playoff team than they actually are. They need another piece, not a player to build around. They are looking for the running mate to pair with LaMelo for the next 5-7 years.

I think most everyone thinks there is a real chance Charlotte passes on Scoot, even if almost everyone thinks Scoot is the right choice.

There is the possibility that Miller becomes a really good player. He bulks up so he can play through contact, he works on his handle so he can create his shot better at the next level, and his passing right now is under-rated and could improve too. It’s not hard to buy into Brandon Miller when most people believe Scoot and Miller are in a tier by themselves.

our assistant gm mike s. did a 20 min sitdown interview with scoot a year ago where they breakdown scoot's game. there were davion and donovan mitchell comp as well as drose. mike seems to like scoot. mike's expertise is evaluatiing draft prospects. i wonderhow that will influence our decision.

Are we all in agreement that Sharpe is the SGOTF? A three guard rotation of Lillard/Sharpe/Scoot would be interesting and fun… I just don’t see us having that lock down guard defender… not like we’ve really had one anyway.

I’m torn. Im reading some well-respected NBA writers who are saying Scoot is a generational guard. Can you pass on that? We have one of the best PGs of all time in his prime on the roster. Put Scoot under his wing and watch the next PGOTF for the next 12 years in a Blazers uni. Im also seeing Charlotte is shopping the pick to those who want Scoot as they know Portland will grab him at 3, so this talk of Scoot in a Blazers uni might be a moot point.

Above all, it’s about God damn time the Blazers hold some valuable pieces to trade with this off season.

And despite being a friendly exhibition game, the on-court intensity felt nothing of the sort, matching the magnitude of the spectators who came to see the event's main characters. Henderson and Wembanyama battled as if the winner was going to be the first to hear their name called by NBA commissioner Adam Silver at the conclusion of the contest.
Henderson had that look in his eye the entire night, showing his fearless competitiveness from the get-go. His deadly midrange jumper was falling and his renowned speed and explosiveness looked even faster than we last saw. He showed growth with his playmaking and vocal leadership, and he seemingly made it a point to attack Wembanyama with every opportunity he got.

I'm good with Scoot. Trade Dame. Scoot, Sharpe would destroy things for many years.

Make Anfernee sixth man - Jamal Crawford type.

Trade Dame. Best to get back high pick(s) and/or young talent with high upside. Preferably a big or two. The wings we got covered I think.

and, just like magic Portland trades Dame for top-10 picks and "young talent with high upside". Yeah right, I see a lot of realistic scenarios with teams that would actually want Dame having top-10 picks and great youth to ship out....not

let's see now, after drafting Scoot and making Ant a 25M/year 6th man, Portland's wing inventory would be Sharpe & Little...and maybe Knox. That seems a few zip-codes from having the wing positions covered. But wait, I forgot about the magic inherent in trading Dame so never mind

I think Dame could easily fetch us some young talent. That's pretty common when superstar players are traded. Maybe get a third team involved. It's not far fetched at all. As for wings, along with Nassir we have Thybule, Reddish and Winslow. Not ideal but not a huge hole either. And certainly we could improve that area through free agency or trade.

i kept throwing the DRose comp around earlier. After watching more his film, he seems more like an Eric Bledsoe type. But Scoot has a bit more burst.

I think he's a better prospect than Miller, but not a surefire star.
