?

What are you hoping for with this pick?

  1. Draft Scoot and keep him

    27.6%
  2. Draft Miller and keep him

    28.6%
  3. Draft someone else at 3 and keep him (please specify)

    3.1%
  4. Trade down, but still draft in the lottery

    10.2%
  5. Trade the pick for a starting forward

    30.6%

My point is he doesn’t put up big stats in big games and they lose. No, he actually puts up bad stats in big games and they lose.

I think Joe has Already told her a deal will be done.
When we got the 3rd pick I bet Jody reminded Joe of his goal and tactic.

    4. If they have a chance to draft Scoot, what’s the best offer they can get for Dame?

Where has it been reported the Nets want Scoot or Miller? It's been reported many times that Bridges is not available. You and a couple others are fixated on Bridges and are manufacturing this canard of Scoot for Bridges. It seems they could not care less because they are not seeking the 3rd pick as you postulate. They like their player. It's really quite simple.

All GM,s make it known that picks are open for trades. To me, I think it compels GM’s to come with their best offer for #3, sorted if like auctioning off a precious gem everyone wants.
Even SA is fielding offers now.

Thanks for finding this. Nice to know Dame can pull in a Gobert type of haul.

    Saying this for years
It might be semantics, but I think it's more doing due diligence than fielding offers. The Spurs aren't trading that pick. But, hey, the Celtics tell them "We'll trade you our two all-stars, Williams and our first for the first pick," OK, you at least say you're open in case some GM goes out of his mind. The odds of it actually happening are infinitesimal.

I don't think that needs to be addressed on draft night unless you believe that would impact them taking another player vs Scoot at #3; which I think is unlikely. Or if you think the Blazers need to move Dame on draft night; which I also dont' believe is the case.

    Correct.
July 10th is the earliest it can happen.

Embiid could be in play if Harden leaves. Giannis is very unlikely - although I guess if Middleton walks it might not be impossible.

With all the trades of superstars the last decade I don't know how you can claim player X is not coming here. Yeah there are probably a dozen or two players very unlikely to be traded - but you add up the small 1% chance for a whole bunch of players and it starts to be a significant chance that one of them we don't expect is traded somewhere.

Additionally - we are in very uncharted territory with the new CBA totally changing trade restrictions next year. Experts have a lot of speculation we could see the most trades ever in the NBA the next few months as that clock starts to run down when those restrictions will take effect.

Well I think he has not. Why would Joe ever tell his boss a deal will for absolute certainly will be done? Do you have any evidence of him ever doing that or speaking in this manner?

A goal and a tactic is very different than a statement of something for certain happening.

Joe has gone public in that the goal and priority is to acquire more veteran talent around Dame, he’ even talked about swinging for the fences
If you don't think Joe has had to inform Jody what his plan and preference is?

I think if the team is smart and they decide that the best way forward is a youth rebuild they'll have that conversation with Dame as soon as they make that decision and they'll nail down a deal with another team, for Dame on draft night... they'll just complete it on July 10th. That just means the pick or picks that another team makes for us won't sign until a few days after they'd be allowed to sign anyway.

I'm hoping that doesn't happen and we see big deals go down around draft day for guys that make sense on a contending roster with Dame and Shaedon.

    why do you think that?

Is Chris Mannix an oracle in your mind? and are the Blazers assured the same type of haul for Dame that Utah got for Gobert in what is widely considered to be the worst and most lop-sided NBA trade in a decade?

for chrissakes....Mannix actually said godfather offers then used Philly as an example team....proving he doesn't know is ass from his elbow. Philly does not have one single first round pick to offer till 2030. About the best that could do is Tobias Harris + Maxey + their 2030 1st. That's a godfather offer? GTFO mannix

Chris Mannix saying he thinks there will be a move, but not at the Draft, but by the Trade Deadline with teams making an "appetizing offer."

Then, after the Gobert trade had already been diagnosed as a colossal fail by the Wolves the Mavs did the same fucking thing with the Nets. When a team thinks it's poised to win it all they will do crazy shit to make that happen. I'm not saying that a Dame deal will happen because I think our front office will get the job done to improve our team around him but if a Dame deal did happen it wouldn't even have to be bad like Gobert or Kyrie in order for us to get that same type of return. Those two both went to teams where they were redundant and that's what made those deals so terrible (one could also argue that Gobert's playing style has become outdated and that Kyrie is an extremely unreliable upcoming free agent but no one could argue that about Dame).

    huh?

    upload_2023-5-25_12-19-45.png

I'm seeing one 1st round pick and a couple of 2nds for Kyrie...and one average role player plus a below average role player. That's not much at all for an 8 time all-star, albeit one with a lot of baggage

I do agree that's probably closer to what Portland cans expect for Dame than the Gobert return...or the 7 unprotected 1st round picks and swaps from the Knicks that WM keeps going on about; or every possible unprotected pick from the Nets....plus Ben Simmons
