Im now convinced the the Hornets are going to trade the second pick for seasoned/proven vets at key positions. Wasn't long ago I saw Jordon being interviewed along with Barkley and they were asked what was the biggest complaint about the game now. MJ was loud about he doesn't like paying young players based on potential at all with the one and done 18-19 year olds.
If this ^ is true then it appears PDX will take Amen. The trade haul for Miller won’t be there imo and it “seems” the Blazers are higher on Amen than Miller. At that point unfortunately I think we turn our attention to using Nurk/Nas/23 for Ayton or give Chicago 23 and open up future 1s for KAT(gross). I’m convinced if Scoot goes 2 overall our opening day top 7 roster is… Dame/Ant Sharpe Amen/Thybulle Grant Ayton 6 seed or Dame Sharpe Amen/Thybulle Grant/Reddish KAT 7 seed
I know you're kind of hedging there, but I've been paying pretty close attention and I sure wouldn't reach that conclusion. And if there was anything out there that suggested that conclusion I'd be extremely suspicious of it.
You're convinced of something right now?!? With all of the bullshit that we know front offices are putting out there to fuck up every other front office? We know from experience that the majority of what comes out at this time every year is smoke screen. These organizations go on gaslighting campaigns not to fool us but to fool each other or at the very least make opposing front offices question things they thought they knew to be facts a week or a month ago.
I know that’s why I started with If the post previous to mine was true, I honestly do think we make and keep the pick though.
Also if you like Amen and you know the Rockets like Scoot (if that isn't misinformation FFS) then we would have to at least get pick 20 from Houston. Scoot has been a consensus top three pick for quite a while and has only been reported to have wowed us and Charlotte in his workouts and interviews that the teams put out very impressive videos of. If we just cave and let Scoot drop to three because we like Amen more I'm going to be fucking pissed. When you land something like a top 3 pick in a draft that everyone says is a three guy draft you have to squeeze every drop of value out of it.
I think it's fair to think a lot of things right now it's just that certainty isn't something anyone should have. This time of year in the nba is...
well, if the Blazers know the Rockets like Scoot, than it's likely the Rockets would know the Blazers like Amen, so I'd doubt the Blazers could coerce any value from Houston
Again we just have to be willing to tell teams that we will take BPA and if needs be trade Dame and start a youth rebuild. The value between Scoot and Amen around the league is supposedly significant. You have to get something out of that difference. The other leverage we could have in that situation is a trade with another team for Scoot. Maybe we love Amen but if we have a trade on the table for a proven commodity but we like Amen more we can tell the Rockets that we'll take the proven guy or they can pony up.
Maybe I can put it another way. Let's say we had a trade on the table and it was Zion for Scoot and filler meaning we could still get value from a third team for Ant as long as the money coming back to NOLA was expiring. Don't you think we would use pick 23 to trade up to pick 2 and ensure that happened if it was something that we really wanted?
I'm always worried when "Cantaloupe_counter" drops a meaningful stat like "dunk percentage in the G League". That's the kind of stuff that NBA dynasties are built on.
If that were the case, they wouldn’t have brought back Henderson and Miller for a second look. That’s the kind of thing you do when you’re trying to decide between two players, not trade out of the draft.
