I made an assumption, not sure how giant it is. Ant/Nurk out and Porzingis/Wright/Bol Bol in doesn't appear to make the team better in the short term. Would you agree?
what I see is that one of the very few times I decided to mess around with a multi-team trade fantasy I apparently have to justify the details and what it all means. I take it all back
My bad. I just meant it as a simple question, about basketball, on a message board. You certainly don't have to justify your thought process if don't want to. I'm not trying to make anyone uncomfortable!
Yes it was, it went to Washington. Otherwise I would have agreed that moves could be made to get better in the near future, which I believe would be important if we're wanting to maximize Dame's timeline.
it was just a wild fantasy trade combining mostly bullshit rumors that had about 10 players and 10 picks moving around on 4 teams. So far beyond the realm of realistic it wasn't worth debating details in my view. I didn't have anything except some morning caffeine invested in it. as for Dame, I really don't think it will take much at all for him to say the draft/off-season was good enough, "I'm staying". If he wants the Blazers to make a trade, or trades, he absolutely has to know that at least one, if not both, of Ant/Nurk will be leaving. And he's almost certain to understand that his lack of synergy with CJ-->Ant has been a big reason roster upgrades have been stalled
I like Porzingis. But come on... He is on an expiring deal (or even worse, opting out). There is no way the #3 is involved in this even with a new deal. Maybe a three team deals with Toronto and Washington landing us KP + Siakam with #3, Nurk, Nas and Ant? (even in this scenario we are FAR from matching salaries). I really don't see a pathway to a KP for #3 in Portland.
Just the thought of KP for #3 and anything gives me a migraine. From the few people I've spoken to, the general consensus is.....NO WAY.
Why ?? Portland is getting better picks with Nurkic then the Wizards are with Porzingus. Paying 13m more for a worse ping pong ball is a bad strategy.
I actually would mind KP on the Blazers (at a much smaller acquisition cost). Something like this: Blazers get Porzingis (opt in), Wright (Into TPE), Gafford Wizards get Nurkic, Simons, #43, Knox Or you could drop Gafford/Nurk & add Keon Johnson.
I honestly can't tell anymore. Draft madness has swept the area. They'll be awesome rookies next year too. If the Blazers can't build a super team, then don't even try. Just let it ride.
