isn't the 2nd apron being phased in over 2-3 years?

I thought the NBA decided to give teams a full year to adjust their payrolls

I think Ayton is gone. They have to move him to bolster their bench. I just would not be surprised if we are the ones who help them out.

Even local suns writers hate the trade

"Right now, I’m struggling with the reality that the Suns swapped an aging, expensive, injury-prone point guard, for a younger, more expensive, injury-prone combo guard.

I just don’t see how it’s going to work."

Yeah, I think they need to break Ayton up into 2-3 capable defensive players at various positions, including Center. .

Currently PHX is 163M in Salary for 2023 with just KD,Book,Beal,Ayt. . Minimums rest of the way

I am not so hot on Ayton because of his contract

I wish we could be a market where there is no reason involved when it comes to acquiring players.

that all could be true. But if they are landing 2 or 3 players for Ayton it probably won't do much to mitigate their cap/tax/apron hell.

Ayton has an extremely bloated contract in my view. I'd be disappointed if the Blazers were the ones paying it

This is true, but right now they probably can't afford to have $30 million tied up in one player.

If they could turn that 30 million into 2-3 rotation players, that would help their depth a bit.

sure it would help. The problem would be landing those 2 or 3 rotation players. Rotational players aren't just falling out of the sky

for instance, you mentioned Ayton-->PDX. So then Nurkic + Little + Keon. Well, at most there's only 2 rotational players there and one, Little, is a back end of any rotation player. Furthermore Nurkic and Little are major injury-magnets who would be joining noted injury magnets Durant and Beal. And if you study Booker's history a little, it sure looks like he's not that durable

the Sun's are way out on in the middle of the pond on the thinnest ice any team can rest on

Yeah, I think that trade you mentioned or something similar from another team. I think they're going to find a taker though.

    Agree on this.
Injuries have a couple of effects on teams. Not only do they lose that player for the time that he is recovering but the other starters must make up the difference and that sometimes causes more wear and tear on the other starters thus causing more injuries. They don't have the depth as it stands to compete well with a couple guys hurt or doing minutes restrictions. Even of those guys are backups that are supposed to be getting 15-20 mins a night.

I think he is alluding to Phoenix ( when the Nets tried to get a dream team.....and it did not work)

I dunno. That's not up to me to figure out. If not doable then what do i know. I just think he's got a couple more years where he could really help a team. I think J Walker will become Draymond like

I think the Top 3 suitors for Green no order are

Suns , Heat and Lakers -- basically the usual suspects but I would not count out the Blazers IF they can pull off a big trade or two and not to mention the relationship between Dame and Green. I do think it's a longshot he becomes a Blazer but I would not rule it out either.
