I don't think this is about too many threads, nor too many opinions, or any of the many reasons folks are upset about the existence of this thread......or it's content. It's about the last 30 years of the younger populace, needing more frontal lobe stimulation. We now have to keep talking about, repeating, and rehashing, because without it....boredom sets in. Patience is becoming a lost art. Just listen to radio 910. It is no longer enough to have someone speaking about sports. We need 3 people talking over each other. And when they repeat snippets of the broadcast? We put music with the 3 guys talking over each other. Movies need more explosions, and more deaths. We need entertainment on our phone....while we are at the sporting event. Thursday will get here. Then we will know. In the mean time, I guess this thread is entertaining? In all, we all get to talk here if we follow the "guidelines".
For the record. Im not trying to single anyone out, not trying to be a dick or anything. Im just voicing my annoyance and coming in here day after day to see new threads rehashing the same discussion in old threads. mim by no means telling people what to do or not to do but voicing what some ARE doing is/ can be annoying to others. Im not offended. Im simply voicing my opinion like everyone else in this public forum, that it gets annoying reading the same ole stuff in so many new threads. agreed if thread titles and polls were accurate and all inclusive it would likely not be near as annoying. Carry on
He wants veterans. He doesn't want rookies. I have said as much. He hasn't asked out. The Blazers will trade for veterans. He has never explicitly said, If A doesn't happen, trade my ass. He has let the Blazers know what he wants and they are listening.
it's biased because the either/or choice is bullshit. The Blazers are not confined by your narrow criteria, why should our thinking be?
Nate, Dame ended the last public statement with “ i believe i will be a blazer next season” What about that DOESNT go against the thought that its either this or that? Do you think that should not be a consideration when trying to determine Dames mindset? Furthermore its Dames mindset. Do you not see how you are implying everyone else is stupid for not knowing his mindset, based on his statements? i know you didn't call anyone stupid but you are dancing around that pole. Your insistence that its clearly black and white is the falicy. It is far from black and white and his last statement was clear on that. What you are failing to do is compromise the fact that nobody is in Dames head, so noone can give a factual black and white answer like you insist there is. Now you are back to spinning the same thing discussed last week that annoyed so many… so lets do it all over again this week. Yay…
True. Well yeah. There's no reason to... yet. We haven't had the draft yet. We aren't in the put up or shut up time period yet. He has no reason to really be upset yet (unless the team has told him something behind the scenes.) Maybe. Not sure if it will happen or not. I could see the team taking the pick at 3. I think they will trade Simons though, so they could still add some veterans. Not in so many words. If people choose to believe "we will have a different conversation" means something other than discussing a possible trade, so be it.
It’s your opinion that it’s bs to choose a direction. I think it’s fair to ask fans which path they would choose if they fully commit one way or the other.
What the Blazers do with the pick likely depends on who is left at three. I believe they will trade it along with Simons for a starish player and another pick. Maybe Dame will eventually ask out. We don't know. Those closest to him say it won't happen. There was this whole media circus last summer about him being traded and it didn't happen. Should we be prepared for the possibility, sure. Is it imminent, no.
Nate, no one is saying a different discussion doesn't meant possible trade. What we are pushing back on is he will demand a trade. He may very well have a trade discussion and both parties agree its still not in either of their best interests due to the return or where Dame could end up with wherever he went. He has gone on record saying a trade for him may not be best because then after they trade, what is that team left with and will it be any better of a situation than Portland? These are words you conveniently disregard when you keep speaking on this topic. Im sure this post will be disregarded as well.. yes a discussion will likely be had. What that means, you don't know.
Eventually Dame's production will reduce. I'm guessing if we were having this debate last summer, you would've also said he was past his peak, and yet he had his most efficient season of his career. I'm suspect that those 4 are the only players over the age of 32 to lead their teams to a championship, but I'll take you at your word because I haven't looked it up myself. I would agree that the odds Dame wins a title in Portland as their best player is very low. I disagree that the #3 pick in this years draft is much more likely to eventually win a title in Portland as their best player. There are a handful of reasons it's not likely at all.
Yeah, true, but last summer Dame didn't come out and publicly say "if you take another 19 year old rookie we're going to have a different conversation (summarized)." It has been two years since the first rumors about Dame being unhappy came out. We have tanked two years in a row and we're not really any closer to contending than we were two years ago. I don't think we can look at last summer and apply the same logic to this summer. Dame is a year older, he has yet to see any progress to his request for a competitive team, and if the team comes out and takes the pick at 3...... I don't know man.
If we stayed at pick 5, or dropped lower, it would be 100% consensus to trade the pick to improve roster. It’s the fact that we won the lottery with a chance to draft a generational talent at pick #3, combined with Dame’s comments that a conversation needs to be had if we keep the pick, that has fans divided. No one wants to trade Dame just to trade Dame. We just see a bright future with Sharpe and #3 pick, and don’t want to throw it away for an attempt at competing next 3 years when probability of winning a title is not realistic.
