Dames naming multiple teams he'd be interested in being traded to. Yeah you can try to justify it or say his other comment indicate something else. The point is hes never brought up teams like that in the past, he knows how to avoid those answers, and now unlike prior years he is not.
He's answered questions. So what. He's not getting traded to those teams. They don't have enough to offer. We aren't going to let him go for free and he's not going to sit out. So fans can wish in one hand and shit in the other and see which one fills up faster. Dame will be here next year.
Dame never would have speculated going to two other teams in prior years. He would've just said Im on the Blazers. You can try to justify it all you want but Dame is well aware of the media asking these questions as they have been for years and this is the first time he's mentioned specific teams he'd want to go to.

Perfect summation. The ones that continue to read into and spin this are the ones that want Dame traded. There is no gray, all black and white. They are manifesting what they want to happen.
If you had actually watched/listened to the full interview you would know that he didn't speculate on his own. He was asked “of these (x) teams, if you HAD to make a choice, which one would you pick. Some of you i KNOW are not this ignorant… Man are showing the non blazer types who read this how tunnel visioned some are. @Natebishop cant/refuses to respond to valid rebuttals to his statements, the same handful of people keep saying the same thing thread after thread day after day in the face of people showing them how their factual opinion might not be correct. I didn't see him say anything about new assets either. Just that we have the assets to make something happen. He's not interested in tanking.
I wonder if the same people making a big deal about Dame answering a question about specific teams would be silent if he had declined to answer. I'm pretty sure the answer is no
He was asked about specific teams. He answered with teams that he has friends on. And specifically said it was because of those friends that he chose those teams in his answer.
We have a lot of draft picks and players we can trade. He didn't say anything about contending. He just wants to be competitive. In Portland. I want us to contend, and I think we have the assets to get us there. But Dame hasn't said we need to be contenders on draft day or anything of the sort.
He's been asked these types of questions before and is very aware of how his words will be viewed, so no I think his response shows his commitment to the team is totally different now than other off-seasons. I'm not saying it guarantees he is gone or anything, I'm just saying it's a legit point of speculation he brought himself and can't be written off completely because of a different comment where he thinks he'll be here next year.
Imagine if any of us married people were asked in public what lady x y z in the neighborhood do you think would be a good lady to date if you ever got divorced? Yeah you answer that question with anything but 100% commitment to your wife and see what your wife thinks. I'd love to hear you try to explain your way out of that one. That Dame would answer the question shows the relationship is crazy fragile. Maybe it gets repaired, maybe not. I'm sure as hell not trading away the #3 pick when and the Blazers might break up in a few months either way. It's not like this is the sole indicator, it's exhibit 1 of 50 that the Dame as a cornerstone of the Blazers time may be ending.
I'm not sure it's worthy of getting in a debate of how well you know what Dame is aware of and how his words will be view. Regardless, what you said was misleading, at best, and my response was to bring attention to it. I think everyone is aware Dame would like to stay in Portland and that there are situations where being traded may make more sense for both sides. No use to misrepresenting what he's said to make a point.
A far better and more 1 to 1 analogy would be: Say you worked in a car dealership as a salesman and someone asked you "Hey, if you weren't in sales and had to be in finance, accounting, or the parts department, which would you choose?" If the employee said "Accounting obviously because Tom the acocuntant is my boy." that wouldn't mean the car salesman is being disloyal to his sales job or even looking to leave; it would just mean he answered the question and has relationships in other departments of the dealership.
