We are a bottom feeding defensive team so shooting is not the area we need to improve in...we need better passing and point of attack defense in my view so ideally you want a two way player but people are more focused on scoring than defending...in Portland they need to balance that out. defense, limiting turnovers.(good passing) and guys who cut well and move without the ball are what we need. Ant can shoot but every talent Amen has is one Ant lacks. Also shooting in college is a different experience from shooting in the NBA. Either way we won't know what these guys can do as rookies until they actually break a sweat in an NBA game. Miller could become Paul George or Nick Stauskas....Amen could become Igguodala or Evan Turner..that's the crap shoot of the draft.
This thread is about keeping the pick. So restating what the thread is about makes a lot of sense and shows an understanding of hypotheticals.
I get the impression that most of the people who don’t like Scoot only watched some highlight videos and looked at his stat sheet.
He did shoot 57% from the field and they were not all dunks. To say he can't improve his outside shot is debatable IMO.
As a reminder, this same question was asked 19 days ago. Clearly opinions can change and/or people might have missed the thread, but the final outcome was:
I certainly think he could improve his outside shot. Of course, it would be hard to not improve it at this point.
If we have Grant we have a long forward that can stretch the floor at SF ...we've been targeting PFs all off season which would slot Grant in at the 3 and Sharpe at the 2...seems to me Joe is trying to get bigger without slowing down the pace.
I think Miller has the fewest question marks in comparison to Amen who has a broken shot and has played against inferior competition. I'd be excited to get Miller.
You say there's been plenty,Who? I've been watching since '77. Talking All NBA Talent, which these 2 players are talked about having the potential to be.
Went back 20 years and found Westbrook, Rondo (always seemed to hit his wide open 3's), Kidd That's not a lot.
Yeah, it took Magic 10 years to become a decent 3pt shooter, but he got there. Of course, the game has changed since then. But on the flip side, he did not have the athletic ability as Amen and struggled to guard quicker smaller guards.
Westbrook Morant Rose Tony Parker Shawn Marion could be a similar comp to Amen or Ausar Thompson. Derozan never shot threes. Literally Ben Simmons made an all-nba team.
If it's Miller, I can see Dame being convinced to stay because Miller can stretch the floor and contribute some right away. If it's Amen, that would be tough for me to see Dame buying into because he needs a lot of work. Ceiling might be really high, but he shot horribly against teenagers. What would it be like in the NBA?
