Miller's not being viewed as wanted as much by other teams. That's fine. His shooting ability and size, gives him a higher floor than Scoot IMO. So if Joe could get Ayton for Nurk , Nas, and #23. And add DeMar DeRozen / pick reconciliation with Ant / future un conditional 1st , I highly doubt Dame would be disappointed with that. Ayton, Miller, Grant, DeRozen, Dame. As long as Miller isn't mediocre, that's damn good.
I want to keep the pick and think Dame would go for it, but not if we're going to rely on that player to be a starter off the bat. Whoever we took, I think should come off the bench. We have other tools to improve the roster via Ant, Nurk, picks. Ayton can be had cheap. Ant should go out for a point of attack defender. I would love Bruce Brown in FA.
His first 10 years it was closer to 20%. But he got that set shot down at the end. But then again he had the sky hook, so he didn't need to. (Especially since they let him stay in the key for 10 seconds while backing players down)
I would go for Ayton because of how low his value is. I wouldn't send Ant for DDR unless we got back Caruso and other incentives. I'd like a younger starting piece back for Ant like OG.
Always draft BPA, period. If two or more players are in the same tier you can draft for position. That is not in play here. This is a three player draft. If Portland uses the pick, it should be Miller. Figure everything else out later. We learned this lesson with Jordan.
I disagree. If he's all that to be selected at #3. He HAS to start. It's like Banchero. start day 1. Or he's not worth the #3. That's with Scoot as well. He either is that good, or he shouldn't go top 3.
DeRozen would be a big contributor on both ends right away. He's not a geezer. His midrange is spectacular, and he gets to the line a ton. I trade Ant all day and twice on Sunday if could get DeMar.
Ausar is a better shooter than Amen and a better defender....Amen is an elite ball handler and passer.
They're literally nothing alike, except good shooting I guess. Jabari can't dribble. Jabari wasn't seen as a potential ballhandler in the PnR. This is why it was laughable, at best, when people were obsessed with him and saying Paolo wouldn't go ahead of him. Jabari Smith is a better defending Al Farouq Aminu; the people who thought he was the #1 pick last year make me chuckle.
Depends on if we're keeping Dame or not. No Dame = Amen, because I'm swinging for the highest upside. With Dame = Miller
There's no way you could start Scoot with Dame. And it's not about talent, it's about having a fail safe. Dame wants to play with veterans. You could get a Bruce Brown in FA and start him at SF until the time to switch it up comes.
His defense is not great. Doesn't solve our POA problem. We're going to be treading water until we solve that issue.
Well, not for average people. But for professional basketball players? He's about the equivalent of early 60s.
If you draft Scoot you stagger his minutes with Dame and make him 6 man of the year....it's not a stretch to see that you need 3 pt guards on the roster that are able to run the offense. It's what they should have done with CJ and Ant....Scoot becomes your Manu Ginobli and someone who won't lose a lead when the starters rest. Scoot has not earned starters minutes yet but he has won rotation minutes as the 3 pick.
There are several "evaluators" that put Amen ahead of Brandon Miller. I would not be surprised if Schmitz is one of them. The consensus was that Jabari Smith Jr. would be the first pick last year and that didn't happen.
We missed out in KD by taking Oden, maybe this time around the next KD just lands in our lap for the taking.
