?

What are you hoping for with this pick?

  1. Draft Scoot and keep him

    27.6%
  2. Draft Miller and keep him

    28.6%
  3. Draft someone else at 3 and keep him (please specify)

    3.1%
  4. Trade down, but still draft in the lottery

    10.2%
  5. Trade the pick for a starting forward

    30.6%

My feeling is everything we are hearing right now regarding who is taking who in a draft is a smoke screen. Furthermore, almost everything we're hearing on the trade front is an idea that has been discussed and discarded.

The NBA Draft can't come soon enough.

I know he is...but it was still funny that he said it. Nonetheless, he is just guessing like the rest of us.

We might keep Brandon Miller. He looks like the next KD

It's about time we're one of the teams who start buying low on players. I'm not necessarily in love with Ayton either, but if you can turn Nurk and Little and change into him you do it. Especially if you're keeping #3. He's only 24 years old and averaged 18/10 last season. If you want, you can flip him later.

I was one of a handful of people who was convinced that LMA would leave the Blazers. There was really only several of us and we had predicted it years before it happened. Do you think I was happy that LMA left us holding the bag? Do you think I was thrilled that we got zero compensation for an All-Star that walked out the door? Being happy has nothing to do with it. I didn't even make a big "I told you so" post because it wasn't necessary. I was right and a bunch of other people who were actually really abusive and nasty were wrong.

Because.... like the drama with LMA where there were people who were convinced right up until the very last minute that he would come back, there are people on this sub who seem to be willfully ignorant to the situation. Unlike the situation with LMA, Dame has come out and publicly said how he feels.... multiple times. He said them on camera. He has said what he wants. So it boggles my mind that I have to continually argue with people about the ramifications of taking the third pick on Thursday. "Well maybe he changed his mind?" Or it's "Dame loves Portland so he would never leave." Whatever.... they can think what they want, but when someone essentially denies what he said, or misquotes it, that annoys me.

Have you ever seen the movie Don't Look up? I feel like I'm Leonardo DiCaprio and there's a bunch of people who absolutely refuse to acknowledge the meteor that is hurtling towards this franchise. It might miss, yes, but it's still there and we won't know if it will hit until after the draft.

Is he a great defender? If he was then sure. But you got to keep the new cap rules in mind after this year. We can't afford
average players making 35 million per

It's kinda funny how anyone who says something that people don't want to hear is "not plugged in."

    Windhorst? Clearly making it up.

    MR? He doesn't know anything.

Haynes? He's just an attention whore.

He's definitely better than average. Not a lot of centers were putting up with Ayton did last season while being a #3 or #4 option. If we want to get better with Dame, we have to spend. And if you're not spending on a vet in a trade for #3, you better show him you're actively trying to get better.

3 or 4th option on offense. I was talking defense. You said in another thread no to DDR because of his D, but you want to trade for Ayton? DDR comes cheaper and was an all-star last year I believe.

he was an all-star the last 2 seasons while averaging 26-5-5. His defense isn't good, but it isn't bad either. He's sure as hell better on defense than 'the sieve', aka Ant

I wonder if Simons would have turned out different if he didn't come up under the Dame/CJ/Stotts school of "what's defense?"

no, don't think so. I've watch him on defense a lot and he has poor lateral mobility and is slow to react. I think defense is most instinct and effort...but mostly instinct

It's interesting because despite having a very good vertical, the guy hardly ever dunks. It's like he has the image of a good athlete.... but not the actual ability. Maybe that's not the right word. I just thought it was funny when he won the dunk contest and people were like..... who? Because unlike Sharpe, he almost never dunks in a game. At first I thought it was confidence, but it also seems like he lacks the explosiveness to get to the rim.

    • Hornets at 2: "Prevailing thought amongst teams we've spoken with remains that the Hornets will wind up going with Miller. That said, the news that Henderson put in an excellent first workout in Charlotte has led some around the league to, at the very least, poke holes in that assumption."

    • Portland keeping the 3rd Pick and will try 'Threading the Needle' (or the Two Timelines Special): "Barring a team unexpectedly emerging on draft night with an offer they simply can't refuse, sources told ESPN the Trail Blazers are planning on keeping the pick and adding the type of talent to the roster they would be hard pressed to bring to Portland if not through the draft. The team will attempt to thread the needle between being competitive with Damian Lillard at the helm and continuing to build for the future with Shaedon Sharpe, Anfernee Simons and this draft pick"
