If we can somehow end up with OG, Cam, Claxton and a bunch of picks for Dame/ Ant/ Nurk and let Grant walk, we could be looking at:

    Scoot/ Sharpe/ OG/ Cam/ Claxton

Or hell, try to get Cam and Ayton while keeping Grant.

    Scoot / Sharpe / Cam / Grant / Ayton

That team could win 30-40 games or so and be hella fun to watch develop. Add the right lottery pick in one more cycle, and maybe we start looking for a plyoff spot in 25. Don't think our FO has the guts to do it, but fun to think about anyway.

let him have both. Go for Harris and Dinwiddie and then re-route them to other teams for draft capital.

So I think that the Nets are the team to trade Dame to but I don't love the idea of Claxton being the most valuable player we get back and him being on an expiring so here is a three team trade idea that provides us a little more insurance.

I was very happy management went with the BPA in their evaluation and not with the trade for vets so Dame can win a championship pipe dream many were pumping daily here. I do believe Cronin when he says it's not his intention to trade Lillard, but I think he would acquiese if Dame requested one. PR wise, it would be very tough for Cronin to survive long if he blindsided such a popular player with a trade. So if he's to be moved, it's on Dame that it happens.

Supposing if Dame wants out today, whats his best route for getting to a situation he likes? Publically demanding it so that Portland's leverage is completely lost might get him to such a situation but it would also earn him a lot of criticisms from the fanbase he's cultivated such a close relationship with. Doing it low key behind the sceens makes more sense as he won't spend days as a lead story about being just another entitled athlete. I also think doing it closer to the trade deadline makes more sense as he'd get to see how the Blazers are doing this year and more importantly which team(s) is lacking just him to really contend.

If he is to be traded, I would think the value coming back the Blazers way would be mostly in draft capitol with some bad contracts attached to match salaries.

I would too if he wasn't on an expiring contract. That just worries me too much so if we could swing it I'd get a guy who is locked up for a while and has more talent even if he is less consistent.

This is really the best case trade scenario.

    Terrible.

Did you see the estimated difference of games won for Phoenix?
Ayton is not worth his contract. I'd immediately cut the Suns out of the trade.

    IF you trade Dame….

With Scoot and Sharpe I think you have to bring in a blue chip PF/C prospect in return.

Pick packages with meh prospects shouldn’t cut
It - ie anything Miami can put together

Do people look at the Nets' roster and think that it's closer to being competitive than Portland's is? Even taking Dame off our team, I don't think they're much better unless Simmons remembers how to play basketball.

I know he wants to play with his guy, but he's already got Grant (presumably) in Portland and there's a lot to be said for him continuing to plug away in Portland.

I think they have a better shot at signing free agents. But that might be why Dame isn't in a rush to leave.

Makes sense... unless Dame feels an actual betrayal, I don't see why he'd be in a huge rush to leave. Assuming Cronin told him (and/or his agent) something like, "We tried for Bridges. New Orleans wanted too much for Zion. We're going to keep trying, and we're going to bring Grant back." ... Dame probably feels invested.

Maybe I'm just being overoptimistic, but I think this team is pretty decent-to-good now, especially if we can add a big guy as a free agent to the rotate, and Dame will enjoy winning again, even if it's not necessarily winning a title.
