If Watford was going to see any rotation minutes this year, we were going to be in a world of hurt. He played hard - but we sure didn't win many games he had big minutes in.

Rumors have been swirling that Watford's time with the Portland Trail Blazers came to an abrupt end because he started acting like he was on a high horse, refusing even the humble task of assisting the janitorial staff with cleaning urinals. It's a sad day when a player's arrogance overshadows their abilities. In Watford's case, his refusal to lend a helping hand to the janitorial staff in the arena spoke volumes about his shifting attitude. While some players understand the importance of humility and camaraderie, Watford seemed to have embraced a sense of entitlement that set him apart from his teammates and ultimately sealed his fate. By turning his back on the janitorial staff, he missed out on a chance to be part of something bigger—a team that extends beyond the confines of the court. The willingness to perform even the most mundane tasks with humility and gratitude can foster unity and create a positive environment for everyone involved.

No longer able to overlook his inflated sense of self-importance, the organization made the difficult decision to release him, severing ties with the once-promising star. It serves as a cautionary tale for aspiring athletes—remember that success is a delicate balance of talent, hard work, and a genuine respect for others.

Pretty sure they can sign Watford to a vet min contract later if nothing materializes. At this point they saved some money to use elsewhere but as said, can always circle back if he is available.

This amount of posts for a guy that could never play a minute on a contending team being released is really sweet. We've got a great fan base that cares way too much about players that other fan bases wouldn't even talk about. I liked T-Wat's hustle and I liked the fact that he had an interesting mixed bag of skills but his talent level and size to athleticism ratio made him extremely expendable.

I don't know if going into camp this move has more context to it but in a vacuum who the fuck really cares?

Wasn't there something earlier in the week that Watford asked to be traded or released if he wasn't going to get more minutes than last season?

Big win for the janitorial staff. They DEMAND respect.

I'm not sure how my T-Wat algorithms would have missed a huge story like that.

For me, it has very little to do with Watford's talent or ability to contribute on a really good team. It raised my eyebrow for what it may signal.

Is this a move to save a tiny bit of money? If so, that gives more information on how invested ownership is.
Is this a move made because it will free up room to make another move? If so, that's interesting.

Possibly to open up a roster spot. Hard to say though.

Why don’t we actually wait until free agency starts before everyone comes with WTF, Jody needs to sell bs.

if free agency come and goes and this was done for nothing but to save some money then the complaining is warranted, for now let’s see what the plan was with releasing him.

I’m not happy he was released but there must be more to it

Or do we just think we might need it and today was our last chance to let him go before his contract was guaranteed?

Agreed, releasing a guy that makes almost as little as a roster player can makes is curious for sure but some people in here are expressing outrage and I just find that cute because this dude isn't a rotation player on any team that is trying to win. Our fans are great because they care so much about end of bench guys. I mean I kind of get it. Trendon was an undrafted free agent that we picked up on a two way contract who then with his BBIQ and hustle scrapped his way into a rookie minimum contract. That's a heart warming underdog story but it's not fucking Kurt Warner going from bagging groceries to being league MVP.
