said this a few pages back. reiterated what i've been saying. Ayton and/or KAT would be possible flyers to take on now.

Matters very little when we have mostly rookie/minimum deals to fill the rest of the roster.

And Jerami's 5/160. But yeah, fair. It just seems like he'd be quite the anchor if his injuries get the better of him.

Yep. Sharpe/Scoot are the future and will be up for extensions as KAT and Ayton are coming off the books.

    If Miami wants Dame then they must give us what we want in players, starting with;
Caleb Martin - a solid bench guy
    Jovic - sf prospect/talented - 3-4 years out
Jaquez - first round pick - solid defender plays with energy
Herro - another bench guy but someone that can play fast.
    Future picks
Picks to free up Bulls pick

projected cap in 27-28 will be 164 mil. At ~35-40% of the cap that year, KAT's deal is bad, but not untenable.

Sharpe (and Rupert) will be getting his extension in 2025 when KAT is making 53.2M; Scoot and Murray a year later when KAT is making 57M. And KAT makes 61M the year after. That's getting into 2nd apron territory, especially if all 4 rookies meet potential

I seriously think we should fire Cronin just to bring in a GM who feels no loyalty to Dame.

Ultimately, if we're trade Dame, I would like to see us obtain vets on a decent contracts that we can trade later for assets.

    so?

is your argument that we should trade Dame for 2 or 3 picks in this range and Herro, and it's OK? no shit you can find players later in the draft, but it's less likely they hit. we are trading the best player in our franchise's history-- i want a more definitive probability of landing a player than this pu pu platter.

for fuck's sake Marcus Smart was able to land Boston Porzingis and 2 firsts that will be better than anything Miami can send us.

Sharpe will be on his extension for 3 years before KAT's expires. Scoot for 2 years. When Scoot is on the first year of his extension, KAT and Grant will be making a combined 95M

The most ruthless request the Blazers could make, beyond asking for Bam Adebayo or Jimmy Butler (which would be a non-starter)? If Portland insists on Herro, three first-round picks, Martin, Jovic and Jaquez for Lillard, Nurkic and Little. Lowry’s salary would be needed to facilitate that trade from a cap standpoint. In that specific scenario, Miami would be sending out $69.6 million in salary and taking in $68.7 million. So Miami’s payroll next season would be about the same as its current roster, well above the $165 million luxury tax line.

Presumably they'd want Dame. They have demonstrated an ability to find good-but-not-great players, and it's possible they'd think with Dame and Wemby, they could fill in the rest of the roster nicely. They probably wouldn't give a rat's ass about Herro or that level of player.

    you're right...read it wrong

doesn't really change things though especially if you factor KAT and Grant salaries

If you take on an already paid player (A KAT/Ayton) you can kiss a potential plethora of draft picks goodbye.

I realize this is stating the obvious, but definitely something to consider.

That kind of trade should be made to keep Dame, not to get rid of him. And if it otherwise can’t be made then it just kind of goes back to our balls being in a vice grip, because everybody knows our situation and it’s unlikely we will receive any ‘favors’ from other teams.
